These buildings look great, especially the way bricks are rendered

Re: Hoth's Corner
Foxbat,
Thanks for the feedback.. As for the bricks, getting a good color held me back from putting paint to model. I actually bought these over 5 years ago and they sat collecting dust.. Now I am moving forward. I started the trim on one of the buildings, will need a couple of coats and more detail work done before I post a picture of the first one. I am thinking about giving them a clear coat and a black wash before I am done.

Re: Hoth's Corner
After many distractions and detours, my buildings are one step closer to being done. Well, one is one step closer to being finished... LOL... some cleanup work from over paint on the windows... A few more coats... then seal and may a wash. After that, 12 more to go. Shown below is what I spent 1.5 hours to paint just the windows..

I appreciate that you are one step closer to being finished… although that might be 10-12 more steps in the iteration process. Looks fabulous! Really looks great. Look forward to seeing it when this one is finished/done and the others as well. Especially all together.

Great work, Hoth! I do know that windows and windshields etc. can be tricky in this scale. Yours look great. Hopefully, you will be able to streamline the window production part of the process. I still have a bunch of buildings awaiting my attention in the "pile of shame". I need to do some soon.

Re: Hoth's Corner
Thanks Chris and Pete for the positive feedback, I am glad you like what I have done here.
Pete,
Yes, Windows are extremely tricky at this scale.. As for my process, I have streamlined it somewhat. I have decided to apply the window trim first and not worry about over paint. Since the Window color is dark, any over paint will be hidden. That sped up the time a little. I am trying to work my way into figuring out how to do each color as I am applying a layer. That way each new layer masks the mistakes of the previous layer and then, fingers crossed, i only need to touch up the previous layers... As you can see, I have some touch up work to do on the trim, but should go pretty quick from here. First time doing a house, so I am learning.

Nice work on this one!
Regarding windows, they look great as they are. Now, if you want to enhance them with minimal supplementary work, you could use a micron pen to contour them inside.

Thanks Foxbat, Redleg pmskaar, and Chris.
I don't there is enough buildings on the GHQ forum. Thought I would add some variety. I am really happy with how they are coming out. As I probably said earlier, I bought them from a friend about 7 years ago and never touched them. It took that long to get guts to do something... LOL. Its hard for me to build up courage.. Haa haa.

Re: Hoth's Corner
Just a little update on what I've been working on. The first picture is a company of Stug IIIs and a company of PZIIIs that will stay mono colored with just Dark Yellow. These vehicles have most of the stowage done and the wheels. Need a little more work and then touch up for over paint.

The next two pictures are of a pair of Pz IV F2s that are painted with a Dark Yellow and German Redbrown. I found the model Kit paint guide through my internet search. It did not have the Unit or the theater but did state that it was a scheme used in 1943. I found a similar scheme used on a Tiger tank that was in Poland around 1944. These vehicles have camo pattern and Wheels only. Need to do stowage and touch up.

Let me know what you think.

Hoth, Dang!! You do a real nice job on those tanks. Like the wheels, the rubber on the wheels.
Really superb.

Re: Hoth's Corner
Thanks Chris. They are coming along nicely. However, definitely need some clean up on the tires, the over paint is a little too much for my liking.

Those models look great, Hoth! Yes, the first picture showing the large grouping does make them appear a bit more orange but the others show the true colors much better. Keep up the good work!

Re: Hoth's Corner
Redleg and Pete,
Thanks for the kind words. Making some progress. I got a couple more PzIVs with camo.... four in total. Just finished the wheels on 6 Pz IIINs and 9 Pz III Ls. Just getting started on my Js and Ms. Wheels are time consuming.. but when done right, they look awesome.
