I've just finished GHQ's Afrika Korps Combat Command, reinforced with a number of other related models. For this foray into the theater, I looked to show vehicles with far more wear -- faded and splotchy paint, messy tracks, and on-board baggage (from H&R's set).

M4 High Speed Tractor with Long Tom. Photo was taken with a cell phone so the clarity is not too good. The GHQ model is excellent. I have been waiting for years for this model and it was worth the wait.

That is really something! I have never been interested in tractors, but this is very cool. For the next purchase I order some rauppen shlepper (or how do you spell it), they were not just used in the winter, but expecially during the spring an autumn.

Term is "Raupenschlepper." "Raupen" is approximately "(fully) tracked." "Schlepper" is "carrier" as in cargo carrier, but usually translated in context to "tractor." Common practice in German is to cram modifiers together with a noun or verb to produce a single very large word (and then to abbreviate it in many cases). All nouns are capitalized. For example, "Sturzkampfflugzeug" is literally "diving attack flying machine," Stuka in short, dive bomber for English speakers.

The correct name of the tractor was Raupenschlepper Ost abbreviated in RSO as shown by G72.

It was a small tractor (1,5t cargo and 2 ton towing) made by Steyr for the eastern tfront.

Note that for the G72 the RSO got the meaning:of Rollender Sarg Org, that is Mobile Coffin est, to show is vulnerability.

It existed another RSO manufactured by Skoda were the R stay for Rad as it had wheels. 4 large steel wheels of 1,5m diameter. While "Ost", it was never employed on the eastern front as it was too heavy. It was seen in Normandy and in he Ardennes.

Inspired by some photos posted in another thread on the M2 bridge, I tried to model the truck carrying a pontoon ready to be lifted by the crane and another truck with the pontoon deflated.

The bases are made of linoleum tiles cut to size and then doubled. I try to grab the bases and not bent gun barrels.

Great configuration for your Treadway trucks Orion320. :D
I love it !
I'm about to do something very similar on few trucks of mine too. Photos of finish models will come soon...

Work in progress (only first coat of paint)...

(these trucks will be "in action" configuration... some others Treadway trucks will carry one boat each like yours...)

Thanks, Ive started using multiple washes on running gear; first a dark wash to represent oil and such (using Army Painter washes), followed by a heavier wash of a lighter color to represent mud and dirt. I've experimented with using Games Workshop's specialty weathering products (such as the mud stuff, don't remember its name) but that is still very much a work in progress.
