Britain,

I've had the same issues with ammo. Unless you record on a sheet of paper of use a dice I'm not sure how you determine how many rounds have been fired. We play modern and tanks will have a mix of AP and HEAT. I want tankers to have to use the appropriate round and when running low experience the issue of a HEAT round not penetrating as effectively.

Yes, there are some GDW Assault ammo sheets that give good indications of the amount of ammo of different types available for different vehicles.

It's fitting that into a turn sequence. I'd like to keep it simple and not use tracking sheets if poss.

I think I may have found way... :)

If it works then let me know. I'm interested in adding it to our games.

Are you planning Argentinians Allen? I have had some Scotia models of TAMs and VCTPs sitting in a box since the 80s and they are cool looking vehicles.

Cheers

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with those TAMs that I built ... I just wanted to build them because that vehicle is kinda special to me ... 32 years ago I was playing TACFORCE with a friend and he said "I wish I could use TAM tanks in this game" ... at that moment the TAC II project was born.

Paul,

Some ammo tracking rules I've come up with:

To minimise any logging as much as poss I've said that for each Battalion every time 4 or more platoon stands fire in a Tactical turn (~30 mins) place an Ammo marker next to the BnHQ.

When the BnHQ gets its' 4th Ammo marker any time any stand in the Bn fires and misses that Company the stand is in is now marked as on 'Low Ammo' and fires with half effect.

If any stand on 'Low Ammo' then fires and misses the Company it is in is then marked as 'Out-of-Ammo' and can then not fire at all until re-supplied.

Re-supply needs a Supply truck from the DivHQ to move up to the BnHQ and for the entire Bn to be in good order for a Tactical turn to re-supply.

For stands that have restricted ammo limits, eg modern tanks, use the ammo counts given in the Assault listings and use 1 Ammo for each FFOT3 ROF expended. Using that really focuses on only shooting when you've a good hit chance and also shows the effects of switching to back-up ammo, eg HEAT, which also have ammo limits.

ATGMs use an ATGM re-load counter to re-load (usually just 1 or 2 per stand).

This then shows a general Ammo usage and means just tracking ammo for those stands that have quite small limits.

Britain,

Thanks for the tips. Since we use modern I will use the second suggestion. My son does WWII so the first suggestion will work for him.

We wanted to bump this to the top, and try un-stickying it. We have had a few people request that we do this, because it got lost in the forum info stuff at the top, and they didn't see it there. We will give this a try and see how it works. This is our all-time most popular thread, and it seems to always be up near the top because it is so popular. What do you think? Does it get lost in the shuffle of forum info stuff at the top? Do you like it "stickyed" to the top? Do you like it in with the rest of the topics? Anyone can always bump it to the top by adding a post to the topic.

Thank you for your support,
GHQ

Very nice work. I've never been a fan of basing vehicles ... but I have to admit that you've done a damn fine job it,,, they look great.

I concur with Allen, [watch out, he and I agree on 2 points] i like your Russians and US group. Even though I do not base typically, you have set up the bases to look very nice with the flocking.

Noticed your basing has the unit identifier on it. One of the big pluses of basing.

I've had a pack of T-72 TUSKs sitting on my desk for a while now,,, I finally figured I'd better do something with them.

Last night I got them assembled and painted with Russian Armor Green and then drybrushed with 50/50 mix of Russian Armor Green and Flat White. Then a quick blackwash. Today I’ll add the weathering powder to finish them. I think they’ll look OK. Right now they look very dark ,,, but most Russian tanks do look very dark so that's fine. Besides, it does not really matter what color a target is ... it's still a target :)
