Pibber, where are you?
I must say that Pibber has been strangely silent, lo these many MANY months. Nothing new in your Vietnam workshop, Pibber?

Pibber is back
Hi guys !
Pibber is still alive !
I always look at what is happening on the forum even if I don't have the time to reply at many of you who do and shows a tremendous job with our favorite figurines.
Cama, your Zippo M113 is really beautiful ! The markings are very beautiful, very realistic, I really like your vehicle !
It's true that it's a long time that I'm out of the forum, the main reason is lack of time (my job takes me too much time). Nevertheless, I continue my 1/285 original projects I had announced a year ago. I wanted to do a surprise and show you only those projects once they are completed but as months are passing, I show you some before they finish :
First picture (poor quality...sorry) :
After LSM HQ400 hospital "Hat Giang", the following picture shows the second LSM, belong to RVN Navy (in work in progress). This will be the HQ405 "Tien Hang". It's entirely made of resin, I made a "master model" in plastic card and I molded it. The following copies of this boat will be molded to make few WWII US LSM for Pacific aera. (Pacific green US Navy camo in the Pacific are beautiful ...).

The second big project, in "work in progress" condition, is the "Sea float" base :
The photo show the base on ammi barges and the HQ405 moored to the side...
All baracks and barges are made in resin by me. Lot of work to do but it will be great model !

Another project for RVN navy, a LSSL (support gun boat) :
This is the "master model", to be molded in resin, later... Two ships will be molded for RVN Navy and one for US Navy WWII Pacific aera...
You can see in the background one LCI for WWII Pacific aera for comparaison...

Another great "scratch project" for vietnam aera : an APL barrack ship
Again, all the model is self made in plastic card and is destinate to be molded. The model is designed to be able to be flexible and reproduce various baracks ship modeles seen during Vietnam war...

Few pictures for inspiration... :

Thank you for the feedback.
I will continue these Nam projects, I'll post pictures as soon as it will be a little more advanced.
I am also very interested by the Indochina. In addition, we have all WWII US vehicles and heavy weapons at our disposal, so no french indochina army equipment problem. We only need Vietminh infantry (the GHQ VC without straw hat and without AK47 will be fine). It would be good if GHQ will Produced french soldiers with soft hat on the base of the beautiful US WWII inf. n°2 figurines).
We need DC3 "Dakota" and Sikorsky S55 helo too. I hope GHQ will produced DC3 in 2015-16 news release...
We have JU-52 (call "Toucan" in french indochina) in the GHQ AC line, french forces had some...
Brief, there are many possibilities playing Indochina or Algeria
.
Sea Float Swift boats base on Cua Long river. (very defoliated aera...)

Thank you very much for your comment
All models are intended for the wargame with figurines.
. I am very sensitive to the level of detail. The objective is to approach the maximun quality to go with figurines produced by GHQ. Because I think it's important to have a landscape and figures in harmony each other.
Visual harmony is very important to me. The GHQ figurines are very good quality, with a price that is sometimes a bit expensive for me, so, for me it's important to highlight them on a beautiful detailled landscape and accompanied by originals detailled models.
Therefore, my main problem is that it takes me lot of time to design the sets of game elements (landscape, models). So, for now, models are exposed in my showcase... waiting players.
I know that for many players, it's amazing to play with as fragile and detailed models, full of antennas and small parts, but for me, it's important to play with beautiful figurines and a beautiful landscape. It's stronger than anything !
The friends with whom I play, are very careful with my figurines, so no problem to play with detailled boats or others models....
I see that some of us on the forum GHQ make beautiful things and also create some incredible models to highlight GHQ figurines.
If my work can inspire other members, GHQ or new readers of the forum too and create a new passion in some neophytes, that would be a real pleasure (that's why I share my work on this great forum).

I agree completely with this philosophy, I am very much the same and I tend to concentrate on terrain to make sure the game is visually appealing, but it takes a lot of time. Even though I have less free time than I used to (family etc), I spend much more time getting the figures and terrain just right. I should be spending less time on them now days but i do the opposite!
Its great to hear you get to use them.
Cheers

Pibber, 😱😱😱 what more can I say? I agree with the terrain being foremost. What's the use of spending hours painting and detailing minis, just to throw them on a green bed sheet covered with brown and blue strips of felt?

Hey guys, hope this post finds you all well. I’ve been around but in a limited capacity. Thought it best to kick this thread in the pants a little to keep interest.
I recently picked up a new airbrush and started using that on the models. I want to get away from dry brushing these little guys. Below are some pics I have taken to illustrate some NVA units and some USMC units. After getting the initial US Army units finalized, it was time to pick up some USMC assets. I was a little frustrated with the retailer when the purchase was made. I was looking to pick up 2 x CH53s but they were out of stock. So I elected to pick up the last CH47 I needed for now.
There is another order enroute to the house that includes about 15 more helicopters, a bunch of armor (all I will ever need; M48s, PT76s, T55s) along with some M35s, Gun Trucks, M88s and jeeps.
After these rounds, I have no excuse but to continue on making additional jungle hexes for the tabletop creation process. I have created smoke markers that I will borrow from my WWII stuff so that should work. But I do need to create some M18 markers for various situations as well.
I picked up a copy of this game and wanted to give it a try…

Enough talking, the WIP pics:

Primered:

Initial Coat: (not sure I am happy with the initial color as it might be too dark; but trial and error with the new airbrush setup)

Almost complete:
