Let's move away from military trivia and a little more toward tactical play with toys.

What are the three movement techniques the US Army uses and when do you use them?

Old soldier farts stay quite for a while.

Well, there was a Montgomery Meigs in command of 1st Infantry Division in Augsburg in the early/mid 90s, too.

Among other things, he was pivotal in the establishment of Arlington National Cemetary.

He was born in Augusta, Georgia.

PG
He established Arlington Cemetery as he had to bury his son and about 10 others at the time. He blamed Bobby Lee for his son’s death so decide to bury them in the rose garden.
From Georgia, but a loyalist.

Ah. Not what what I was thinking of, but true.

I should have specified movement techniques for the platoon/company level.

Traveling is when all elements move continuously and is used when enemy contact is not likely and speed is necessary.

Traveling overwatch is when the lead element moves continuously and the overwatch element moves as necessary to cover the lead element and is used when enemy contact is possible.

Bounding overwatch is when the elements bound alternately to cover each other's movement and is used when enemy contact is expected.
Tactics are the opinion of the senior officer present.

I believe my answer to the Meigs query was complete in accordance with your question.

Yes indeed PG, I apologize for not making it clear.
You are correct, I was adding some color or context.

In the AWI, American Revolution
1. Where, specifically, was the Battle of Bunker Hill fought? More specific than Boston.
.
2. What weapon(s) did the British have and use that was decisive that the Continentials did not have to use?
