I'm really looking forward to the new 1:2400 WWII Micronaut releases. The HMS Canberra and CA Maxim Gorkiy are very nice choices for the 2008 releases.
I'm really looking forward to the first images of the kits to check 'em out. Any ideas on when we will get to see them on the website?
Please, please say we can see them soon!!!
Thanks for sharing the 2008/2009 Release List so we get to know the great new kits to look forward to in the upcoming year!! Keep up the great work!
The early GDW Harpoon was pretty good. I recall the first scenario being a US frigate vs. 2 Libyan missle boats. Fast & fun.
Another scenario was 'First Team' which featured a US airstrike on a USSR fleet with a Moskva & Kirov iirc. Also pretty good. I think what happened is that when the USSR folded, & we started getting new hard data on their weapons systems, Larry Bond kept rewriting & adding stuff & it just got out of control. I always wondered if those Kirov SAMs were as fast as Larry first claimed.
Given the many very popular gaming eras, such as modern microarmour, WW2 microarmour and Nappy, it is very gratifying for a naval gamer like myself to see GHQ continuing to assign such a high number of releases to WW1 and WW2 ships.
Of course I could quibble about what particular items are released, but we can't overlook the very strong commitment to expanding the selection of ships available.
Economically it may not be workable, but it would be very nice if there were some kind of "pre-purchase" arrangement that would provide the funding to increase the number of items issued in a year. I don't know the average sales period it takes to recover the costs of producing a new model, but perhaps a 25% discount on potential items with the understanding that you might not see the model produced for six months would allow increasing the number of releases. OTOH I can see the administration (and possible refunds if the item isn't produced) would be a lot of overhead.
GHQ has never released photos of their new releases until the actual release time (and usually a week or so later). Not certain, but my impression is that they wait until they have actual production in progress and then some more time for someone to paint an example.

Here is an update to the new release schedule. Due to a large number of feedback concerning the ACW line and the facts that we recently released ACW rules and we have not had a new release in that line in awhile, we are going to squeeze a couple new packs into the 2008-09 releases. We have not set an exact date, but they will be near the end of the schedule because we will need to have some time to get the room for them to fit in. The new release will be Charging Cavalry for the Union and the Confederates.
Obviously we do listen to our customers. For the record if someone takes the time to put together a well-thought out case for a particular release, that carries more wieght with us than someone who just blasts out a pot shot at us in an e-mail or posting and tells us that we completely blew it and they will never buy anything from us again. We received some of both. Once again, coming up with releases that sell is 100% in our business plan. We would like to thank those of you who have contributed to our new release schedule and have taken the time to put your ideas together into a well-thought out argument for your suggestion.
Every year we have similar postings and e-mails regarding our new releases. We are going to help all of you out by starting a new thread here on the forum that will list some suggestions for the best way to submit your ideas for new releases. This won't be a sure ticket to turn your ideas into new releases, but if followed, the suggestions should help you get heard louder.
Awesome. That's all I can say. Despite my disappointments, a few, and the fact that I couldn't care less about Civil War stuff. I still have to say, I've never seen a company, any company be as responsive to customer input. Way to go GHQ.

Don,
Yeah, you are correct about GHQ not posting the photos of the new models right away. However, I was a little unsure about when the exact release date will be for CA Maxim Gorkiy (SUN6), since GHQ mentioned it was planned for a "June 2008" release. Not sure if that meant a late June release or early June release?
If it was early June, then I was just hoping to find out if we might get to see a photo of the new model fairly soon. Guess I'm just pretty anxious to see the new models.
Based on recent experience, again, when GHQ lists a release date as a given month; it usually means that it will be available for sale on the last weekend of the month. There have been exceptions - occasionally when there are two Micronauts listed for a given month, one of them may show up near the middle of the month. I can't remember having seen a model released near the beginning of the listed month (but I closely watch only Micronauts).
Fantastic to see GHQ is going to keep producing modern Chinese PLA equipment. This will make GHQ the only manufacturer to do so in 1/285th-1/300th scales.
One more new release update. In Oct. or Dec. 2008 we will be adding the #342 USS Constellation and #342F USS Constellation with Full Sails to the new release schedule. See- we do listen to our customers, your voices matter!
