I've been on a painting hiatus this past year, but the reasons for that have cleared and so I've resumed painting and this is my latest effort. Just completed last week.
I wanted to deal with a monochrome scheme (no complex camouflage patterns at this time) and just address the issue of developing detail clarity without too much artificial exaggeration. You can judge if I succeeded.

Redleg - No secret techniques. The highlights are built up with a couple of layers of dry brushed colors, each color a bit lighter than the preceding color, and very lightly applied. Each successive layer is applied more lightly then the previous one. I have found using makeup brushes works very well for this. They are very soft and bushy and can put down a thin veil of color if lightly applied.

Here are a couple of TimeCast buildings I painted for use in Northwestern Europe WW2 games. They are TimeCast's Belgian farmhouse and barn, but I painted them using stone colors that photos showed were common in the Normandy and Brittany regions. These buildings made their appearance in the "Sergeants' War" AAR posted above. One of the interesting features of the stonework was the variations in stone colors. It was a bit tedious to do, but I was pleased with the results.
