Gazza, are you doing them as Elephants or Ferdinands? The Ferdinands came out in time for Kursk and the survivors were later withdrawn around November-December 1943 to be rebuild as the Elephant.
They'll really being pulling double duty as both. Although my German army is meant to be able to represent 1943+ (when they switched from panzer grey to dunklegelb etc.) it's mostly 1944+. Basically I don't have enough Panzer IIIs!

That said, my original Elefants/Ferdinands are painted in that 'web' camo scheme. Maybe I should repaint all of them with the later 'blotchy' scheme. Although I do like the 'web' scheme, so...

<edit 1> The army list (after checking) is only supposed to represent the unit for the period Apr-Oct 1944

<edit 2> I also have an army list for the 656th Heavy Panzerjager Regiment - so that's an option too.

Hi Gazza

My Elephants will do double duty as Ferdinands in a pinch. Here are some pictures of the 4 I painted a few years ago. One is in the "web" pattern and the other three are in the blotch pattern.

Very nice Pete!

Four's all you really need - which makes me wonder why both myself and the other chap had a 'unit' of 5. Probably some old army list or some such.

Anyway, I've base coated them (Humbrol 83 to fit in with the others - I'd probably go a bit lighter these days).

The Porsche Tiger is a bit of a mistake on my part - it didn't actually exist in this form. Porsche submitted designs for what became the Tiger I and the Tiger II. The initial design (for the Tiger I) was the VK 45.01, whilst the second design (for the Tiger II) was the VK 45.02. A few (Wikipedia says 10) were actually built; one of which saw combat with Abt 653. The hull of the VK 45.02 was never (as far as I know) produced and the 50 turrets that were manufactured ended up on Henschel hulls.

Thank you for the feedback on the Sherman colors Gazza! I think I'll finish both of these in the existing colors, but I'll probably do the rest of the pack in the green-green! And I'm going to attempt some white star decals on these - keeping my fingers crossed.

Great looking tanks you guys! Pete - your camo always blows me away! Fantastic paint jobs!

Recent acquisition of some Roland’s and Gepards. Elevated the SAM rails. Then painted.
