Hi Bill

That is another great looking game .... as usual! Your terrain and buildings are inspiring. One of these days I may get around to painting some of my ACW stuff but for now I have plenty of WWII to keep me busy. Thanks for showing this.

Here's the link to a TMP posting about a game my local group played this past Saturday pitting elements of the Canadian Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal against a depleted company of the German 272nd Infantry Division at Troteval Farm, Normandy, during the night of 24 July 1944:

Latest 6mm WWII game played at Gigabites Cafe.
It was a June, 1941 scenario involving counterattacking KVs from the 3rd Mech Corp and the little Cech Pz35ts of the 6 Pz Dv

A good day to crush the Facsist invaders. And a futile attempt to explain to the FoWers why having artillery on the table means bad stuff is happening.

Hi Mark

That looks to be another excellent game you put on there. As usual the terrain and the minis look excellent.
I have plan on doing a Barbarossa scenario one of these days but it will probably be in a year or two as I have to get the units painted up first.
I think this period is very interesting in that you actually have the Russians with some superior equipment and lots of equivalent equipment vs Germans that have tanks that are inferior to some of the Russian vehicles but with superior training and organization.

Thanks again for showing us what a great game looks like.

Here is a link to the AAR for a game we played on the Battle of Breville focused on D Company, 12th Devons attack to secure the NE quarter of the village on the night of 12 June 1944. Thank you Roger for pulling the AAR together:

Bez, Nice looking table there. And the scenario looked to be interesting also. I would like to see more of these micromelees.

Here is the link to the AAR on the WWII Eastern Front game I ran this past Saturday -- "The 0930 to Korotich." Roger pulled the AAR together -- thanks Roger!

Thanks very much for the great AAR with your excellent terrain. It looks like it was a very close run thing.

I do like the way that you have your buildings on bases with makes them look like their own little pieces of terrain art. Very well done and something I might consider doing for my own buildings. Right now, I just plop my buildings down on top of the terrain maker but I do like the extras that you have with yours. Great work.

It's a great AAR! Thanks for sharing it!

Looks like it was a very engaging game.

Can you share the rules you used? I am impressed by the handling of the infantry and infantry AT weapons. I am also someone over-impressed by the effectiveness of the light mortars ... I don't think I've ever heard of a mortar barrage of 3 rounds having substantial terminal effect on trained combat units.

In any case, it looks and reads like a great game!

Mark 1,
The rules are Micro Melee by Britton Publishers. The mortars were 82mm for the Soviets and 8.0cm for the Germans, which I would categorize more as medium rather than light mortars (I know, a matter of semantics). In game terms these have a 7.5 cm blast radius.

The four rounds of German 8.0 fire landed in a tight pattern catching the massed Soviet SMG platoon as it prepared to rush up the hill to overrun the suppressed German LMG team and PAK-38 positions. It was a case of bad timing for the Soviets and good casualty die rolling by the Germans, which reduced the SMG platoon to a combat ineffective force. If the mortars had landed one action phase later, the rounds would have arrived on an empty woods and the SMG squads would have overrun the suppressed German positions.

I'll be running two games of Micro Melee (British and Canadian Paras) at Fall In in November so please stop by if you make the Con and are interested in playing or just checking it out. Cheers,

Bez

My 3rd Micro Armor game

Post by SKeeM »

So tonight I played my third game. I only own 15mm terrain so the table didn't look as good as what I have seen in this thred but I will be working on what I can use and what I need.

Wow great looking game Bez. Stunning table and setup and its nice to see people playing historical scenarios.

BTW how do you find the Micro Melee rules? This is the first I've heard of them but they intrigue me and I'm a fan of 1 to 1 rules. How long doe a game take and what size armies can you use?

SkeeM - even with the 15mm terrain your table looks good. The hills probably suit 1/285th better than 15mm anyway! :D

Cheers
Kieran
