Re: PolishGI’s Working Thread (WWII & Vietnam)
Thank you Chris! Yeah, sand is a touch n go process. Lol
I hope it helps. I also leave it for me to return down the road IF ever…
Thanks Pete. I do have a model of the picket fences… but… printing them in this scale tends to compromise the structural integrity of the model. (small/thin) I’ve tried… but it can be challenging not to blink at them. Hehe
Thanks redleg. I have a few more to post with the terrain in place now. Its currently drying (maybe dried?) with the top coat on sealing the terrain. I have a few trees to place and I want to break out the static grass applicator again and give it a go.

Re: PolishGI’s Working Thread (WWII & Vietnam)
And this project got out of hand… I am putting together another Normandy/Western Europe village/town. To be honest, makes me a little nervous… This is a larger bite than I anticipated. It sounded interesting in a theoretical sense… then I drew it out and it looked still possible… and then I measured out the hexes and what would be required… and then it hit… this hex piece (affectionately called the ‘centerpiece’) is going to be larger than my Sainte-Mère-Église piece/project…
My last larger project from 2017...
Initial blueprint:
The space required…
Parcels and roads have been mapped out. Buildings are starting to be selected and mated to each parcel location. I have the surrounding fields mapped out, where trees will be planted etc. I will be printing sheds for backyards along with outhouses here and there… Some fields will be fenced in while others are just open.
About half of the homes/buildings have been printed/cured…
Some of the town/village buildings will be damaged or destroyed. So this is something new… I am printing tons of rubble for around the buildings or in the street.
Hard to see, but just the foundations are left standing…

Great looking towns and villages, Polish GI!
I really especially like the look of your French town and the surrounding countryside. I have lots of buildings to paint before I get anywhere near to that stage.

GI, Am I correct that these are bases for buildings? Do you pull out the good building then insert the damaged building/home?

Re: PolishGI’s Working Thread (WWII & Vietnam)
Thank you Pete!
Thank you. This is going to be a sizeable undertaking.
Hi Chris. Thank you for the kind words. In a perfect world, I would love to get to this level. Have a destroyed building attached to the hex with a perfect version of the building standing “over” the destroyed version. If the building gets destroyed, you simply pull up and off the perfect building to reveal the destroyed version underneath. Im not there yet. A bit of CAD drawing would be needed on my end to make two versions of each building I have.
For the Euro village/town, these models (in the link you provided) represent leveled/destroyed buildings already. So I will need to paint them, secure them and then bury them with rubble. These buildings have already been destroyed. Maybe a tank moved through? Artillery? I need to figure that part out. lol

Re: PolishGI’s Working Thread (WWII & Vietnam)
Been working on some buildings as time permits. I figured I would paint/finish each building before securing it to the town plot. So here are some WIP shots. I need to add some additional rubble to one of the damaged buildings. Adds something…
I like how the windows came out… almost transparent looking with a little bit of shine…
Moving onto the town plot of land…
Here is a top level shot of parcels 1 and 13. The church and the adjacent cemetery.
Walls are primered now… Will need to paint the walls, then wash, highlight and seal. Then I can move into placing the church down. And then adding rubble/dirt/grass and trees. For the cemetery. I printed off some headstones for various graves. Will plant some grass on top of the dirt, maybe a bush or two and 2-3 trees. Fingers crossed.
