Thanks very much you guys. I really do appreciate the kind words. I will continue to post as I have lots of things to share here.
Redleg, I use an optivisor to aid in seeing things up close. I have 2 optivisors. One of them is 3x and the other is 5x magnification. I have been using the 5x almost exclusively for my detail work. I use the 3x when I am airbrushing as it gives me the right level of magnification for that kind of work.
For brushes, I use anything from a 3x0 to a 10x0 for my detail work. I have actually been mostly using a Testors 3x0 for a lot of my work recently. It seems to work pretty well.

Here are some pictures of some of my just completed German North Africa army pieces I just finished on Sunday. Included in this group are 3 Horches, 3 Marder IIIGs, and 2 FAMO recovery vehicles.

Thanks very much, Redleg! It feels great to get them done at last.
Right now, I am contemplating what to do next. Here are some possibilities that I am looking at.
1. More Panthers. I have around 20 of various types, D,A,G, that are basecoated. I have 3 Panther Ds that I started the camo on over a year ago.
2. Halftracks. I have basecoated several versions of the German Sdkfz 251 halftracks. They need all the rest of the work including camo and detail work etc.
3. More Israelis. I would like to expand my Israeli forces to include more M-48s, Magach 3s, Centurions, Super Sherman/Isherman, plus maybe some halftracks.
4. More Americans. I am looking at doing some late M4A1 Shermans,. maybe a few more M4A3 Shermans including both 75mm and 76mm types, and maybe some TDs. I have a company + worth of infantry done already.
Eventually, I hope to get all these done plus more but need to concentrate on 1 or 2 areas for now or nothing will actually get done.

If you are going to do more M48 Israelis, they didn't have any cupola risers. They replaced the gas engines of the A2s they got with diesels, adding the air cleaner boxes to the fenders as quickly as possible. Go with the Magach3 for that. They also quickly changed to the 105 gun. They as only about 1 company of those for the '67 war. The rest were still the original cupola, A2 chassus, and 90mm gun.
All blessings flow from a good mission statement.

Hi Panzergator. GHQ currently makes the M48A3 and the Magach 3 plus an older M-48 casting which I think might be an A-2 with both the 90mm and 105mm turrets. I respect your insights on these.
I am using the M48A3 as my 1967 M48 and the Magach 3 as my 1973 M48 based tank. I looked at lots of pictures of both to get references. I do realize that these models may not be exactly perfect but that is what GHQ makes so for my Israelis they be good enough for my use although if GHQ did an updated M48A2 I would buy some.
If I recall, it was the experiences of 1967 that caused the Israelis to change the cupola on their tanks as it was found that the American cupola was exposed and tended to fly off when hit taking part of the TC with it. That is what I have heard anyway.

Yep, I understood that. And to be clear, no criticism was intended. I am a great admirer of your work and hope you will post more.
We had an Israeli Armor LTC in my Armor Advanced Course in '78 who attested to the fact. Impact on the turret caused the cupola to pop off, taking the upper half of the TC with it. Very unpopular. This applies to the M60 series, as well. Israeli experience also led to changing the "cherry juice" turret hydraulic fluid, which would spray into the turret, igniting and causing, at minimum, severe burns among the crew. Israeli experience led to armor being added to the frontal armor of the M60A1 and A3 models.
Many of the M48s shipped to Israel were surplus German ones, which were in the original M48A2 configuration.
The GHQ M48A2 is correct with the 90mm turret. The hull is incorrect for the M48A5. While there were VERY early A5s issued with the original cupola (there is a pic of one in the California National Guard, almost all had the flat cupola and M60 or M240 mg at each turret hatch. The hull had air cleaner boxes. If you want actual US M48A5s, you buy Magach3s and clip the 50cal off the main gun and add two 7.62mgs to the hatches. You still have to overlook the barrel jacket and fender differences.
We have to work with what we have. I am glad to have it. I have difficulty, too. I have 37 incorrect M48A5s in a National Guard battalion.
