Thanks Fellas! I'm so close to finishing this project! I'll have 1-26 IN done by the end of the week and 1-77 AR should be done by the end of next week. I still need to get 1-7 FA done and I need to place one more small order for that so I'm making St Patrick's Day my deadline for the full project.

PG, you should have seen me trying to get the turrets all facing forward. I would move the barrel of one Brad just a bit, and I would bump the one next to it!

You think that’s bad try to keep the gun Barrels on the Infantry Models straight. Currently doing WW2 and Modern Canadians using UK and US infantry minis.

There is something impressive when pieces are lined up on the parade field.. Every time you do this, it makes me want to pull a bunch of stuff out and line them up. Great work Sir.

You ought try it with a tremor triggered by trying to use fine motor skills. You don't bump just one!

Now the brigade has both of her mech battalions! That is 1-18 IN on the left and 1-26 IN on the right. One of the best jobs I ever had in my life was being the Fire Support Officer for 1-26 Infantry - "Blue Spaders". At the time the battalion was commanded by Wayne Grigsby. Great bunch of guys in that unit!

Thanks Chris!

New project! JTF-P needs a maintenance facility so I am starting on one today. My inspiration for this project is the big L-shaped maintenance buildings that we had at Fort Carson. If you've been down the Banana Belt at Carson you've seen these buildings in every battalion / squadron motor pool. Here are a couple pics from Google Maps:

My maintenance building won't be that big, but I'm going to attempt to copy the general shape. I printed the walls out on thin styrene and I'm slowly cutting them out and gluing them together. Here is the short leg of the L. More updates to follow.

Awesome idea Mike. Like the pics of the buildings. I have driven by Ft. Moore outside Columbus, GA. There are a few building back up to the highway. Abrams, 2.5 & 5-ton FMTV trucks, a Bradley, Hummvs, mostly in desert camo, M60A3 in green, I have a few buildings by GCM.
Very nice, thank you for sharing. Keep us/me posted on your progress, please.

I made some progress on the motor pool this weekend. It's not going to be as big as the pictured building from Fort Carson, but same general concept. My building will have 6 standard bays on the long leg of the 'L', and the short leg will have 4 big boy bays. The Abrams will fit in the standard bays, but just barely. The standard bays will be primarily for working on the ginormous fleet of wheeled vehicles while the larger bays will handle the larger tracks, like tanks and M88s. Still a lot of work to do!

It will be great to see how you do this, Redleg! By the way, I was at Ft. Carson from 1977-1980 in 4/40 Armor, part of 4th ID. Our battalion maintenance bays were the same.

Ooooh, I LIKE those buildings! I was never so lucky! Three bays for battalion maintenance in a tin building and one bay for each company in a row of A shed-like building MAYBE built early post-war at Ray Barracks and the rest was outdoors, including Q-service hardstand. Dirt and gravel for a motor pool and more tin shed at Fort Polk. Good, concrete stuff at Fort Knox and saw new motor pool facilities at Baumholder in late 1983.

If I ever get my ping pong table motor pool, I think I'll build some of those! LOOKIN' GOOD!

On the other hand, I am glad I served when and where I did and would not trade for the fancier places like Hood, Carson, and Riley, or the modernized Grafenwohr. Germany over Stateside ANY day. Graf, Hohenfels, Wildflecken, GP Mediums, WWII leftover one-story, ex-POW buildings for temp quarters there, 1930s kasernes, Rules Gap; 7th Imperial Army was where it's at! There needs to be a certain atmosphere to make you feel like you're doing the tankin' you should be doin'.

The roll up doors are that tall, right?

Thanks Fellas! Still some work to do, but I am fairly confident that I can get it done in another week or so. I just need to do the roof, and then the rollup doors. I want to be able to remove them for a doors-open look, but no half-way open. It's all or nothing! Then just a little paint and a concrete slab to put it on!
