The Eurasian Empire shocked the Mediterranean region again this morning by stopping another civilian ship to search her. A cruise ship was heading toward Italy when the Imperial Mediterranean Task Force stopped and boarded the ship for a search. Most of the passengers were herded into their staterooms where they remained for the 3-hour search. However, 18 passengers were taken to a secure room for questioning by Imperial officers. They were eventually released, but they seemed very distraught and they declined to speak with anyone about the questioning. During the search, several hundred pamphlets were distributed that highlight the inequality and brutality of capitalism.
During the search several CoC aircraft flew over the ships, but no shots were fired. The CoC warned the Imperial ships to release the cruise ship and its passengers, but the Imperial commander warned the CoC to stay away from the Imperial ships or there would be “severe consequencesâ€. The nearest CoC ships will not reach the site until late this evening.

In the ROD, air, sea, and land forces are on a heightened state of alert and some units are making preparations for deployment. The ROD Navy announced that two carrier battle groups will be ready to put to sea within days. In addition, the remaining ROD amphibious force is preparing to deploy with units from the ROD Marine Division.
The Army's 1st Mechanized Infantry Division is also on alert, as well as several ROD Air Force wings.

Strategic Intelligence Update:
The Navy of the Eurasian Empire is a large force but split between several theaters. The Pacific Fleet, based in the Northern Pacific at the port of Chorrovostok, contains 2-3 carrier battle groups and many submarines. There does not appear to be much activity in the fleet, however, so they are not listed here.
The Imperial Black Sea Fleet is made up of several task forces:
Black Sea Strike Force – currently in the Black Sea and at port in Skinkograd
1 x JFK class aircraft carrier
1 x Kiev class VTOL aircraft carrier
2 x Kara class cruisers
4 x Sovremenny class destroyers
Black Sea Submarine Force – currently in the Black Sea and at port in Skinkograd
2 x Yankee class guided missile subs
4 x Oscar class guided missile subs
1 x Typhoon class guided missile subs
2 x Charlie class attack subs
Mediterranean Task Force – currently in the Med in the vicinity of Italy
1 x Kiev class VTOL aircraft carrier
1 x Kirov class cruiser
2 x Slava class cruisers
2 x Udaloy class destroyers
1 x Sovremenny class destroyer
The Middle Eastern Naval Command contains two task forces:
Libyan Naval Task Force – currently in port in Libya
1 x JFK class aircraft carrier
1 x Bainbridge class cruiser
1 x Virginia class cruiser
1 x Hatsuyuki class destroyer
2 x Yankee class guided missile bubs
Red Sea Naval Task Force – currently in port in Djibouti
1 x Kiev class VTOL aircraft carrier
2 x Kara class cruisers
2 x Sovremenny class destroyers
1 x Typhoon class guided missile subs
1 x Victor class attack sub

OK so for strategic mobility we're going to keep it simple. No restrictions on the number of transport ships, strategic air transports, or chartered airlines for deploying units. Unless you have a specific transport ship in mind, we will assume that each ship can transport a brigade's worth of equipment.
Ships can either carry troops and equipment or they can carry supplies (food, fuel, ammo, etc). You will need both. And you will need to schedule them so that they depart and arrive in the order that you want. Depending on the port if embarkation and port of debarkation, you will only be able to fit a certain number of ships in port at a time. Allow 24 hours to get ships offloaded at the destination.
For game purposes we are using a modest 30 knot travel speed for all ships.
So your next step is to determine which ships are loaded with what, where are they departing from, and what is the destination.

Indeed it is very generous. My Redleg Logic was that I wanted the players to have to consider logistics and mobility, but I didn't want it to slow the game down too much.
The staff nerd in me would probably find it fun to just do all the detailed logistics, but I think it would kill the game to determine how much 5.56mm ammo vs 7.62mm ammo etc.
Maybe at some point we can get a game going where we fill staff positions as well as commanders. I call G4!

Ukraine is protesting the ongoing Imperial exercises in the Volgograd Province, calling their maneuvers and live fire operations aggressive and provocative, particularly in light of the recent activity in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Several Imperial motor rifle divisions have been observed in close proximity to the Ukrainian border, and some Ukrainian officials accuse Imperial troops of actually crossing the border.
The Eurasian Empire dismisses these accusations as “paranoia and jealousy†on the part of the Ukrainians. The Imperial exercise continues.

[GM’s Note: The basic sequence of play for the Black Sea War will be fairly simple:
The referee (me) will send an intel update to all the players, along with the strength of the player units. The players will decide what they want their units to do and send me the orders. I’ll move all the units on the master game map, resolve combat, and send an update to each player with their new unit strength.
We will repeat this game cycle every 24 hours.
The combat resolution system that I’m using in the background is based on a 2d6 dice roll. We can’t really roll dice since we are paying remotely, but we have a workaround! Players will draw a random card from any deck of playing cards and send it in with their orders. The referee will draw a control card and compare it to the player card, and the difference is the “die roll†– a number between 1 and 12. In this way, there is no real benefit to high card draws or low card draws, it just depends on how close the player card is to the control card.
If players don’t have a real deck of cards they can use a number of online random card generators, or even just make it up. Suit does not matter, only the face value of the card (ace through king).
We’re not quite ready for the war to start – a few things still need to happen and we still need to get the units in place. Since I’m refereeing and controlling the Eurasian Empire, the ROD will not be directly involved in the fight. The ROD will be fighting in a different theater, but they can provide corps-level units to support division from the NACF, CoC, and RPNW if those nations want some assistance. And there is still time for other imagi-nations to get involved!]

Redleg, you should read Rick Atkinson's new book, "The British Are Coming" if you are a staff nerd (Logistics was my secondary specialty). Or any of Atkinson's books for logistics statistics. I never wanted to be a logistical until I was one. I did like the planning required, as well as seeing my plans work.

Ok cool. NCAF is inbound. The ships have some time before they arrive, but your aircraft will reach their destination much sooner. So what exactly is the destination? That's part of the wargame exercise - how are you getting there? You will need to refuel on the way, and then where are you planning to set up your air base?
