The city.
The Martyrs of the brown corduroy trousers (in T.Zeina + Ksar) believed the Mauritanian Liberation Front (in Sebkha + Elmina) said they "will support Canada in their endeavors".
Due to this it was taken that the Canadians would act with and for the MLF. Both local factions are at odds with each other.
The forced entry by the Canadians would have seemed hostile when they started to make loud noises.
Now if you had stopped and started to hand out food and medical supplies things may have gone differently.

"It hit the M577 SQUARE IN THE SIDE.". At least, that is what the statement said. Then, there was a short election which appointed the JOP ( junior officer present). Right. Let the new guy take the blame.
All blessings flow from a good mission statement.
Pogo was right. So was Ike.

The surviving Canadians from the destroyed Tank column lead by a rather shaken up junior lieutenant, found a abandoned building to which to hide from the brown trousers group for the night, however it a rather surprising change the sergeant has decided to assume command of the column in order to have a more effective unit.

"Oi, is Gretzky in there ?"…...Nothing
" Oi , this is the Canada Revenue Agency I’m here to help, I have a question aboot your 2018 tax return. "
A very young bemused Canadian looks out of the broken window, gun at the ready.
"Crazy F-ing canuks. Don’t shoot I’m coming in, hold your fire, do not shoot "
Slowly from across the street a scruffy looking local walks across the road hands empty, out to his sides and open. He slowly enters the Canadians hold up.
"Me and my mates have been looking for you lot, we came as soon as we found out. The Brown Trousers know you are here and they are quite miffed at you.
They are working out what to do right now, if you do exacly as I say we may be able to get you all out and send you to the port".
"You are not BT then ?" Asks the sergeant.
The scruffy local looks at the Canuks including the young officer then replies to the sergeant.
"Me and my friends are from Yer Bouti, we are making a wild life documentary. Just passing through."
The sergeant notices the MP5 under the lose fitting jacket of the wannabe David Attenborough.
"Well sergeant what do you want to do, trust me you have one chance at this."

The CoC Military Academy has a new curriculum to adjust based up the ROD Treatise.
The Leadership Course will include the following for our students. It will also be instituted in the NCO Leadership program for development of effective NCOs.

Have a mission.
At the operational level have a mission and stick to it. Why are you in Mauritania? To hunt Al Kabab? To establish peace? Who do you want to be in control once peace is restored? To claim it for Canada? Only after you know what you want to accomplish and who you are fighting and why can you decide what assets you need. If you are trying to rebuild a neighborhood don’t blow it up with artillery. If you want to beat someone into submission, then do it convincingly. Don’t bring flamethrowers into a town if you want to build trust with the presidents.
At the tactical level have a mission and stick to it. Why are you leaving your base? To go kill someone? To see what exploded? Presence patrol? Decide what your mission is and then proceed with the assets that you need. If you’re operating from a base, you should never have an M577 out on the streets. Take what you need and have a QRF on standby in case they get into trouble (Quick Reaction Force). Never rush to failure – think about what you are doing before you rush headlong out the gate.
Have a chain of command.
This is the military – you have a chain of command from the highest commander all the way down to the lowliest rifleman. If the commander is killed, the next dude in the chain of command takes over. There is no questioning who is in command there is no deliberation. The new commander drives on with the mission or he makes adjustments. No one should ever panic in the absence of orders.
Train your troops.
Get your troops in shape – mentally and physically. Challenge them through training and instill the will to win in them. I suspect that morale will be low if they run away every time they take a casualty. Teach them to want to fight – focus on who you want them to kill, not whether they are working with the CoC or not. Teach them to shoot, to stab, to punch and kick. Teach them to think on their feet.
Shoot, move, and communicate.
When you get into a fight, remember to keep doing these three things. Keep doing them until the fight is over.

T.zeina. Canadian Hold up.
The Sergeant nods "maybe we should leave"
The scruffy film maker pulls a small radio from his pocket and clicks the PTT (push to talk) button three times.
Hold your fire my mates are coming in. Shortly two more even scruffier looking panhandlers slowly walk in.
Attenborough introduces his friends "This is Tom and this is Jerry."
The sergeant notices one is carrying a AKM with a GP-25 grenade laucher and a fancy night sight, the other a short barreled AKS-74U the stock folded.
"Some wild life movie you guys are making."
Attenborough smiles. "Badgers" he says.
One of the new comers is talking quietly on his small hand held radio, the Canadians can not understand what is being said but it seems to be a debate back and forth.
Jerry comes over "Sorry there is no way to get them as far as the port, Ali won’t allow it.
He said we can walk them down the back ally to the gas station, he will arrange transport from there to the hospital only."
Attenborough "Good enough. Ok fall in listen up. We have to move now, we have to be out of here before sunrise. Sergeant get you guys together, I want everyone of you to make safe their weapons,
that is no round in the chamber and safety on, there is local gun fire here at night but no one must fire, no talking, no sound, we are being watched, clear"
"Crystal".
"We are going out the back turning left and walking about 100m down the alley to what was a gas station. Then we’ll see how the uber service is tonight."
"Sergeant you stick with me, Tom you stick with the young Lt make sure he is ok, he looks a bit under the weather." Tom gives a thumbs up, he is the largest man in the building with hands like shovels.
The Film makers and the Canadians slowly make their way down the alley.
The 100 meters seems to take a life time to walk. Sure enough in the darkness at the old gas station are two GAZ 66 trucks and a few more members of the documentory crew are waiting.
Everyone is cramed on to the trucks and they slowly make their way South past the Ksar area and stop 200 meters short of the Western city hospital.
"Ok you walk from here, they won’t drive any closer, the other side of the hospital is MLF territory. Good luck sergeant tell your new CO the uber bill will be in the post"
"Thanks, good luck with the Badger documentary" they shake hands.
The Canadians walk off in to the hospital. The GAZ trucks drive off .
The Scruffy looking Badger watches turn and walk back in to the Ksar area of the city.

Atlantic Ocean,
Off the coast of the northern area of Mauritania, coast of YB the CoC Naval Forces are still on patrol protecting the oil wells. Wiring $52,744,000 to YB for the royalties, from the Treasury Dept.
. A Visby Corvette left port of Nouakchott, although it did not have the recent security code nor password and response having the old one from early May, 2019. As it was approaching an oil well that was about 12 miles away. It was approached by an OH-6 and two AH-1 Cobra helicopters, and 4 miles away was a Visby and LCS Indy Class ship. Open channel communication for the 'bandit' Visby to stop and be ready for inspection. Slow to respond, then not adhering to instructions, now at a distance of 2 miles to CoC Visby and 2.5 to the LCS Indy. The 'Bandit' opened fire as it slowed from 20 knots to 10 and has the CoC Corvette with its 57mm gun, 8 rounds at a range just under 1000 yards. 5 shredding Visby. Which was able to get 1 round off. Relatively large explosion on the CoC Visby ripped apart the boat, killing 31 of the 43 members of the compliment.
. At the time of the first gun fire from the Bandit, the Bandit fired 2 Stinger missiles, 1 at each AH-1. The closest one was hit and then ditched within a minute. The man firing the 2nd Stinger was a moment later not gaining a lock with the wave. The AH-1, code Oil 7, that was a bit further away sent off flares, avoiding impact. The LCS opened fire with its 57mm gun and 2 Hellfire Missiles from the port launcher. One missile hits along with 4 57mm round hit the Bandit Visby. 4 more rounds fired, then 7 more...the Cobra fired its 20mm at Bandit.....it was completely destroyed. The OH-6 fired its 2 Hellfire missile at the Bandit. The LCS then approached the CoC Visby to recover any survivors. The OH-6 also went to the same Visby to help. The AH-1 Cobra flew over the destroyed Bandit to ensure that there was not any resistance.
. Other Visby corvettes approached and NH-90 helicopters were dispatched to carry the wounded back for more intensive medical assistance. Of the 11 that survived the clash , 2 died later from the wounds that they sustained.
. 20 minutes later a battery of five 105mm guns opened up from shore on the LCS. At this point a DDG was 14 miles from the battery, counter battery fire from the 5-inch gun opened up. with a higher rate of fire, pumping 20 HE rounds on the battery site, killing gun crewmen, hitting ammo boxes and destroying two 105mm guns. The remaining that were able ran away. The AH-1 approached to within 2 miles of the battery, about 1/2 mile from the shore line. It fired 3 Hellfire missiles at vehicles near the battery, 2 trucks had ammo having large explosions and the Hummv, was set on fire as a Major and Sgt had gotten in to leave, dying on the scene.

The survivors has safely returned to base, the sergeant has been summoned to the bases commander to discuss what happened.
(Canadian Commander): Well Sergeant I have been looking at the records taken from the rest of the survivors and you distinguished yourself well taking command of the remaining column dispite not being a commisioned officer"
(Canadian sergeant): "that's correct sir, the juinor lieutenant was unfit to command due to shock, I think there maybe some merit to what the RODs recommandations said sir."
(Canadian Commander): "Indeed the top brass back in Ottawa after seeing a copy of that report, had somewhat of the same conclusion dispite some misgivings about it, and are looking into this...idea further."

The Canadian army is planning a retaliatory strike on the Brown Trowsers group in the T.Zeina area after they opened fire on a Armored column a few days ago, a much larger force will be organized in order to deal with this recent threat to Canada's operations in the North African country.
