That's a beautiful stag, Pete! Just curious, is it for a diorama, or some kind of game piece?

Thanks very much, Redleg! It is a commission piece for a friend to be used for gaming.

Re: Pete's Place
I spent last Saturday with two of my granddaughters, Sammi and Brookie. I let them each buy a figure at the local shop and paint it at the house. Sammi got a Griffin and Brookie had a Blue Dragon that she painted black and purple. I helped both of the girls with the detail work touch-up, and washes. I have a couple pictures of the Griffin but forgot to take a picture of the dragon. Oh well.

That’s pretty cool, and they did an awesome job! I’ve found over my time at the museum, whenever I’m on the floor working and there’s youth groups, or school groups, or even just guests seeing what I’m up to, it’s seems to be the girls that are more interested than the boys. You’d think the boys would be all about little soldiers, or model airplanes and ships, and some are, but there are more girls that are, and they seem to get WAY more interested into what’s going on. Especially the paints and brushes and how to do all of that, no matter what it’s going on. I think it’s pretty awesome, any young people that find a hobby interesting.

Thanks very much, Bill!
It was a lot of fun to spend time like this with both of them. Last year, Sammi, the older one, had asked me about painting little tanks. I did not have any real acrylic paints around at that time so I deferred. Later, in October, we had a painting session at my daughter's house in La Mesa, CA when I came over for a visit. Both my daughters were there with their combined 4 kids. Austin, the boy, opted for Pokeman cards while the 3 girls each had a dragon to paint and I painted an Ogre.
It was a lot of fun both times and I hope to encourage them to enjoy the painting side of the hobby at least even if they don't get into the gaming side. But who knows....

That's awesome Pete! Your granddaughters are very talented - way more talented than I am with a paint brush. My daughter used to ask if she could "play tanks" with me and I cherish those battles in the flower garden. She's getting older now and not as interested in playing tanks with me, but I will always keep her tanks ready just in case.

Thanks very much, Redleg! I like the tanks they painted. Looks like right out of "Girls und Panzer" or something. My granddaughters would probably make them look like that. My daughter, when she was about 10 or so, painted an old GHQ BRDM. She painted it some sort of military green color and then added some red blotches to make it blend in with a berry patch.

Re: Pete's Place
Here is my current GHQ M4A1 Sherman collection. Right now, I have a company plus painted, ready to go.
My collection consists of M4A1 76mm and M4A1 75mm. On the 75mm Shermans, I have hulls with both with the single piece transmission covers and the three piece transmission covers. For the turrets on the 75mm, most have the applique armor but I did a couple with the bulged turret as well.

Those are amazing Pete! I love how there is a little variation in there too with slightly different shades of green decal arrangements. Superb Shermans!
I was just going to post a pic of my own Shermans, but now I don't think I can! LOL BTW - I love the bases you made that you posted to FaceBook too! What an awesome idea!

Re: Pete's Place
Pete,
OMG, your Sherman's are awesome. I have never seen a bad piece, in your collection, yet. Following your lead, in putting a variety of vehicles in one company, I have ordered some more PZIIIs of various types for the units I am building. Maybe some PZIII Ls with some PZIII Ms... You know, just to let my hair down a little.. LOL. Just moved into new place and should be getting my hobby space set up. Hopefully posting some stuff soon.
