Hey PG, the building is 11 inches by 7 inches overall. The thin section of the building is 3 inches wide by 7 inches long (6 bays with the smaller doors). The fat part is 4 inches wide by 7 inches long (3 bays with the larger doors).

I haven't gotten much done on it lately. I had the great idea of mounting it to a sturdy piece of wood that would look like concrete, but spray paint on wood doesn't cover the wood grain very well! LOL

Thank you! I would try a thin coat of drywall repair plaster on your wood base, but glue the walls down, first. Looking forward to seeing your motor pool.

I hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving had a great holiday! Now back to the grind!

I am happy to report that I just finished 1-77 Armor – Steel Tigers!

This is part of my DD-214 Project, so no support stuff. Just 44 tanks, mortar platoon, scout platoon, and 3 command tracks for the TOC. With the completion of 1-77 AR, I am now 86% complete with 2nd BCT / 1st ID, and 97% complete for the project overall!

Just one more battalion to go. 1-7 FA is already being built, and my Black Friday purchase has everything else I need to finish. My official goal is still to be done by St Patrick’s Day, but I’m pretty sure I can beat that!

Just an interesting observation – I found that I am much happier with the camo I paint on smaller vehicles than I am on larger ones. Not that I have particularly high standards for my work or anything, but my camo panting of a Bradley turns out better in my mind than an Abrams. I attribute this to the larger surfaces of the Abrams, so my swirls aren’t broken up as much and they look like some knucklehead with a brush painted them!

Pope,

That is an impressive array of firepower. They look awesome. Your camo scheme looks good as well. Keep up the great work.

Mike, those tanks look great. All three armored companies look super as do the command, mortar and recon elements.
Very nice work.

BTW, what brand and colors did you use?
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Fellas!

Chris, I use Tamiya paint for my micro armor. For this project I'm using NATO Green, NATO Brown, and NATO Black. They look a little too dark to me when they are sitting on the table, but I didn't want to switch colors mid-project. After this I think I will experiment with some other colors to lighten it up a little, but I will be sticking with Tamiya.

Nice ship, Mech!

So just for grins, I'm gonna ask...

You have the room for 14-tank ranks, which is a company. Why do you do ranks of 7, when that is neither a platoon nor a company? Your battalion might be depicted better in company-sized ranks, or echelons, with GHQ element in the front of rear. Just curious... (I'll admit I use company lines in column, with GHQ stuff in the rear, which makes me biased.)

I admit that it is entirely me liking the way it looks to have 2 ranks. I wanted to have 2 companies side by side with the HQ tanks in the center, but I still could have done them in a proper company formation. Or all 3 line companies abreast with HHC in the back.

Maybe there is a little subconscious artilleryman a work too! 2 firing platoons in a battery so maybe I'm projecting onto the tank companies!

It is, of course, entirely up to you. As a tanker however, I see THREE platoons per company, 4 tanks in each, so SEVEN tanks constitutes only one platoon, and then a platoon short one tank. You just KNOW it will catch my eye. Don't change anything. Just keep poking your finger in tanker' eyes, you REDLEG, you.

Mike, thank you for the info. I tried Tamiya for a number/bunch of vehicles.
Since then I have gone to Home Depot to match paint. About $16- $25 a quart.
I have 7 or 8 colors matched up.
Color names by Model Masters
Med Green, Dark Green, SAC Green, Field Drab, Dark Tan,
I just asked them to do a Flat Black
Sometimes I need to shake up a jar better. I use some Tamiya to prime.
I now brush these colors on.

If you want the color code or a color sample, let me know.

BTW, the Platoons are 2 up, and 2 down. Two of those, then CO with XO behind, then the third platoon.
