Not really. As impressive as it is (both the origina and the model) it was only of 21cm caliber. It fired a HE shell of 107 kg.at 1500mps at a max range of 115km. It needed a charge of 241kg and a 33,3m barrel to reach this exceptional result.
There were only two of them: a K12V and a modified K12N.
In the opinion of its Krupp designers they were a waste of time as a practical weapon but as a technical exercise their development was worth every penny spent on it.

chrisswim & TAMMY: I agree. I think the fear factor would have played an important roll where there were not any aircraft to do the same job or stop it. It is almost an inch longer than the K5 in our scale. The gun platform had to be raised about a meter to keep the breach from hitting the ground when fired and lowered to reload

Dog Smack: Something on my list of "Things to do When I Can't Sleep" and soon to be added to my "Tray of Things That Will Never See a Gaming Table" (I have something like 8 Rattes !?!). Not exactly accurate, but it was good to see what I could pull off. To be honest I think I'm lucky the support guys are as straight as they are for being plastic. I've moved more into making things than gaming and hope to post more useful items like 7.62's stuff later on. I have to keep busy and have a section of Stalingrad in mind with a railyard and ruins. If I do I'll be sure to share what I used so that others can make their own (BurtWolf's buildings have proven to be an inspiration).
Keep up the good work guys and keep sharing the pictures!

So I bought a resin casting kit with my extra festivus monies, the thought being to make those board accessories for my games. First up small supply caches as objective markers. The original is on the right- evergreen plastic bits and some gas cans and tire from left over micro armor:

I was happy with the result and learned a few technique issues right up front. Air bubbles will kill your casting! I just gently pried them out early on with a toothpick before the resin set. Then I painted it up a bit but still have to trim the base:

I scratch built a bombed out house and used putty to seal in holes and to sprinkle sand aka rubble into the scene. The mold came out great but extracting the original proved to be a tough proposition, the putty wanted to stay behind!!

The casting came out great as you can see

Painted up it looks pretty good. My plan is to make a handful and modify them to make them more individualized for my board. Kept them sized so that my infantry stands could fit on the ground or second floors

Thanks!!
I used a starter kit from micromark that was about $100 - with all materials included.
I found it very easy to use so far. It did not take much time, other than scratch building the items to be cast, and mixing the materials was simple. I am not sure how long the molds will hold up and I have only made one part molds so far (as opposed to two part molds). I think it is going to be a great solution for things like walls, buildings, sandbag emplacements, and cargo for trucks etc.
Mk1 had some great tips in an earlier thread, I appreciated his insight. I learned a few small things along the way and really have just begun my journey with it. There are a handful of videos on YouTube that are worth watching as well.
