Onboard the Siliver Dart, the Canadian Commander is trying to figure out how this new plan of removing the Brown Trousers from the area is going to work, for starters the local population now fully supports the militant group due to the 1st counter insurgency operation ending in disaster, so earning the trust of the locals is out of the question, second its now confirmed the existence of Ballistic missiles in the Brown Trousers inventory in the form of SS-21 Scarabs so those missiles and there launchers will have to be taken out first before we can proceed with the operation. lastly its impossible to take back our holdings near T.zeina since BT took over Sebkha and Elmina areas blocking access to it. the strategists will be hard at work for weeks to come up with the idea how to proceed, once the Landing is rebuilt and troops starts to flow in again.

Mauritaniadom
In the western zone
Approaching Riach area from the south a brigade is deployed with support elements attached: logistics, medical, weather & meteorological group, artillery, police & security, Intel, etc. 143 Battalion (Rambo) with armor and Mech Infantry is on the Southern Hwy moving along the road and to the west of the Southern Hwy to primarily act a flank protection. Snipers are out and posted along with drones airborne. Pushing up just to the east of the Southern Hwy is 148 Battalion (Rock) with 3 companies of Mechanized Infantry riding in Centurion APCs , each has attached 5 Merkavas for direct support, including the commander and XO are allocated to a company each that are the spear/vanguard of the push. The third company is the close reserve with a platoon of 4 Merkavas. Engineers are attached along with M728 with 165mm demo gun for each company for working through the houses....
. Laser designation teams are ready along with mortars, howitzers, guns and rockets. Grids are laid out to the city block, to the house, in some cases to the side of the house. Counter battery is set up to 6 levels with multiple batteries at each level.
The first two companies advanced in the heavy Centurion APCs with observers looking out for any resistance. Snipers and observers looking for anyone carrying a weapon will be shot. Leaflets have been dropped that last 2 days to inform the citizens and any people in the resistance that carrying a weapon can be dangerous to their well being.
As three men were walking across a street in the neighborhood on the edge of the home development, two were carrying AK-47s. A shot rang out, Bamn, in the left temple, the body dropped a second later after being hit by a .338. Another shot range out hitting the other man carrying an AK in the right check from a .308 round. The third man was on the ground with wetness running down his legs. He rolled into a ditch that served also for some human and animal waste, crawling away.
. In the opening WP smoke rounds were hitting 200 yards west of the the Southern Hwy, making a line due north. Merkava IV and Pumas advanced quickly, turning in 10 blocks north into the area of Riach. From the west an similar battalion of was moving in along the same axis heading west to meet up with the other cutoff battalion. Red-Yellow panels were on all the vehicles roof and front hull. Each had 3 companies of infantry that deployed taking the buildings to the north before any resistance could be set up. A few people did run for and a few did grap weapons, all were shot dying at the scene. One Commonwealth soldier and 4 others were injured. Engineers came to set up razor wire to the north of these homes and buildings for a border. When fire from a house across a street happened the targeting observer put the laser on the building with 3 120mm rounds fired from a mortar. All impacted on the house inside destroying the house. There was not any more firing from that location. M548 came in behind the Pumas carrying barricades for road set up, sandbags. They were set up fairly quickly, smoke was released to obscure any resistance that might impede the road block and security points. Taking 3 hours to set up properly, wish some more work to be completed during the evening.
. From the west, south of the cutoff line another company came in entering the city just south of the 10 block line. Cobras and OH-1s flying overhead keeping an eye out along with the drones. So far there have not been any SAMs fired, even though some small arms has been directed at the helicopters. When it becomes known where the fire comes from a laser targets the building and a minute later the building is rubble.
In the evening from questioning this action was a surprise movement with overwhelming force. Many that are in the resistance regardless of group affiliation have been surprised. Some of the locals come in for food and medical treatment have let us know where the resistance, guerrillas are living.
. Assault teams approach those houses with a few minutes of discussion. If the person does not surrender, nonlethal action is usually taken with smoke grenades and teargas. If that does not work, it becomes more serious. Some come running out with hands in the air with clothes on fire. The are instructed to lay down and roll, as they are covered blankets and zip-tied. Some have been instructed to roll over take their shirts and pants off. A few have run out of the house with weapons firing, one as he was coughing from smoke.... they were dropped with multiple entry points and exit points.

Guyana
South America
The CoC has been able to secure 7 C-nuks from Al Kabab in Brazil. One was in severe medical condition with surgery on a DDH north of Guyana. 6 others are secure being cared for, to be sent to the DDH soon. Information has been transmitted to Canadian Military HQ Atlantic informing them of the 7 soldiers, condition and location of each. Cpl Hotch might be flown to Ft. Sherman for recovery and further medical attention. The 6 remaining soldiers are expected to be transferred to a ship, perhaps the DDH. awaiting coordination with the Canadian Military for transfer.

Why is earning the trust of the locals out of the question? It will be really really hard to do, but I think you put unnecessary constraints on your operation. Put a public relations guy, a civil affairs guy, and a PSYOPS guy on your staff ad come up with a plan to make BT look bad and make Canada look good. Of course you can't destroy the city and try to be their friends at the same time, but you should try to think outside the box.

Well the reason why its out of the question is due to the fact that in the previous operation to remove the militants out of T.zeina we did render most of that area unlivable after the Winnipeg Grenadiers spent days lobbing Grenades and PIAT rounds though the windows of houses and buildings in order to quickly flush out hidden BT militants inside, that forced the population to flee from that area and move to Kasar for safety, plus the M109s from the Royal Artillery Regiment of Canada, did preform counter battery operations to get rid of those annoying homemade Rocket Launchers in said Kasar area. so yea trying to form public relations with these locals after what happened last time, is next to impossible, more likely they will shoot any public relations official on site rather then talk.

Don't send public relations guys into town, have them on your staff to develop talking points and a narrative that will convince the public that all the destruction is BT's fault. Figure out how to make the public think that you were defensing yourself and that BT is stealing from them and workinf with criminals and terrorists and embezzling
Do some old school Mission Impossible stuff! You need to hire a political campaign director to run your campaign.

How about let just move away from the futile effort of convincing the angry locals, to a more pressing matter mainly the SS-21 Scarabs, we got to find and destroy those missiles and there launchers in order for this operation to be successful. any ideas on where the BT hides these weapons?

I think the first questions that must be asked is why are you trying to remove the BT?
About ten pages back the BT was a very local militia trying to protect it's own people, mainly against Al-Kabab.
They were at that time openly fighting Al-Kabab.

Even when the K-nuks sided with the MLF no action was taken by the BT against the MLF or the K-nuks until an armoured column rolled into their home turf.

Imagine if an uninvited Army turned up in the middle of Grande Prairie on Canada Day and started telling the locals to get out of the way before plowing in to their parade and teargassing them.
What would the locals do?

The BT was designated as a dangerous terror group by Canada after they destroyed Maple Leaf Landing with a Ballistic Missile attack that left thousands dead.

Nouakchott, Mauritania
As the CoC forces more forward, every unit has at least one soldier from the Mauritania Army, Guard, etc for effective communication with the citizens. As we advance with great caution, drone have been over-head observing for hours. Make phone call to home asking the residents to come out to meet us. We then get a member to lead us into the house, frequently with one of their children. It is scary situation for the residents and the army team for each house entry. If weapons are found, the weapons are confiscated, a receipt by name, address and picture is provide to resident. The CoC has cleared all the houses and building up to the Phase Line 10, 10th street from the south. It happens to be named Zebedee.
. Residents are asked about neighbors, those that may be prone to violence. As we advance two home rows to the north, they are permitted to return, but advised not to until 4 or 5 home rows have been fully cleared. There have been several dozen fire fights. We have lost 2 men so far, over a dozen with wounds serious enough to be removed from the zone for advanced medical care. The teams have learned specific entering, securing and assault techniques over the last 583 home. There have been 4-5 dozen people apprehended to be questioned further having been moved to a secure facility (but not a concentration camp). Word has been passed in some cases of the care that the House Teams are taking to protect them & their families, their homes. Not perfect. Pictures are taken of the damage and cataloguing information for remuneration or replacement.
. Teams have moved to north of Phase Line 10. It is a slow process, although a bit quicker with experience. Trucks are bring in supplies, meals for the relief of the residents, tents set up south of town for them if they prefer to wait there vs. a neighbors home that has been cleared.
Discussions are taking place for the next Phase Line to secure, the further north, the bolder, but the higher risk.
. More Nigerian Army soldiers have arrived by train, along with supplies. Keeping now almost 30,000 people supplied, along with all the trucks, 10,000 or more, Hummers, Jeeps, drones, helicopters, tanks and or ther AFVs is becoming a logistical issue. Networking information systems is helping as more get online for requests, needs and also location of the items for distribution to the division (administratively), Brigade and/or battalion. The Nigerians Level 3 soldiers have received training on house entry, level 2 for just behind the front line, level 1 for securing back areas with some more advanced trained teams, and for logistics labor as needed.
.
VZ
6 Canadians have walked into VZ, now they are about a mile from an small Al Kabab camp. Their movement is being monitored and tracked. The Canadian Govt has their head in the sand, maybe stuck into the can just below the outhouse. As the CoC secured their freedom, providing care as needed. Canada Govt is short, harsh in their response. Not sure where they sent their Sea King, but then it landed at a base on the coast of Guyana and the Atlantic Ocean, over 120 miles away from the major operations center over-seeing the rescue (exchange for pickup trucks & other valuables).

Nouakchott, Western Mauritania
As the ground force have advanced further north deeper into Nouakchott. refining the assault and clear techniques, making adjustment in the cases there is resistance.
As moving on a town block of houses infantry and assault teams assembled south of the road preparing to move forward. Bright sunshine with some wind from the west, a warm breeze off the Atlantic Ocean. Snipers and engineers in place. 4 AMV 8x8 AIFV moved on the road just after some smoke rounds fired and smoke grenades from vehicles discharged. As these 4 vehicles moved east about 8 houses, they then stopped each in front of a house providing 25mm cover if needed. The next platoon was behind them on the street in front of their 4 houses. The ramps on each vehicle dropped, two men came out one to each side for observation and protection of the AMV.
. In the houses just to the north of 'the line' resistance fighters were sensing an assault action as they did observe some CoC infantry congregating in the houses. After several moments after the advance began. There were 3 RPG shots at one AMV, one hitting the road in front to the rear of the vehicle, not aiming to where the 8x8 would be. The other two hit, one at the very rear of the vehicle and one just in front of the turret killing the vehicle commander. The HEAT round did detonate some 25mm ammo which in turn hit the driver, severing his left arm, also having some fragments enter the body in the left leg, neck and face. The gunner was consumed by the explosion inhaling some of the fire taking 3 minutes to die from wounds and burns. Very unfortunate. The one security infantry man hit the ground putting the vehicle between him and the houses firing on him. The other ran, he was hit in the legs and arm just short of a house. Smoke grenades were thrown from the house as a medical team rescued him a few moments later.
. The second AMV of the platoon received 1 RPG round hitting the front port side of the vehicle and burning those two tires. Some of the RPG HEAT warhead entered the engine compartment melting hoses & belts, and causing a fire of fuel. Smoke bust out of the front compartment, from a break in the crew compartment, smoke and heat entered and forced the quick exit of the crew.
. As the crew of 3 and the 2 security detail were leaving the vehicle machine gun fire opened, wounding 2 and killing two while one made it without sustaining any injuries.
. AH-1 Cobra helicopters were called in, the hit the 2, 3, 4 houses that fire was known to come from, hitting the houses with 70mm rockets and 20mm gun fire through the roof. Seeing 3 figures running out the back door a 20mm trailed the three, hitting one and severing him into two pieces (plus a few others). His arm was seen the next day in the dog house in the back yard. As several other left the houses up front an OH-1 opened with its .50 cal. following the guys as they ran. One died in a house taking a round in the neck. Another wounded with wood splinters hitting him in a half dozen points. His leg was hurt, but able to run. Waited until they hear the OH-1 rotor sound move away a minute later. As 4 were running north across the street spotted by a different Cobra, they entered the house with 20mm trying to catch up to them but they had the jump. Having to kick in the door which was locket four 70mm missile his the front wall and roof killing 3 with HE explosion of metal, wood, plaster entering their fragile bodies. Suprisingly, the 4th was not hit, scared. He continued out the back door jumping the bushes running around the next house across the street. He saw a family of people between two house across the street. He ran around one house and hid in a shed behind one house right next to where these families were standing and watching the action two blocks away.
. Other advances into houses went better, another infantry on an assault was hit by rifle fire single shot. So there must be someone around sniping. The concern is that he may have been a sniper in the CoC or the Mauritania Army.

Maple Leaf Landing
The Rebuilding of the Landing is at 50% completion, The construction workers have been working in shifts to ensure that the base will be ready on schedule in preparation for our second offensive aginest the Brown Trousers terror group who occupy most of the northern part of the capital, though the threat of another ballistic missile attack is ever present, the Canadian army strategists have also been busy as well for the past week, finding the best solutions and ideas to combat the problems faced by the previous offensive, talking to the locals to earn their trust is still considered but again rejected due to them showing full support to the BT militants, any attempts made by the Canadian army to do so will be a futile effort.

Their attention is then directed towards locating the SS-21 Scarab missile sites most likely in the Ksar and T.zeina areas and destroy them, they considered the idea of getting the RCN to Launch airstrikes in those areas to knock them out but that would mean the risk of running into heavy AAA fire, the other idea into consideration is a night time operation using RCAF Paratrooper regiments to drop into the city and search for the missiles and the launchers and plant C-4s to destroy them, hopefully the cover of darkness would avoid the AAA fire. both ideas will be given further reading to determine which out of the two is the best option.

We could ask Hoplite Tactical Solutions to deal with the locals living in the area in Canada's place, to see if they could "persuade" them to turn aginest the BT and hopefully make this mission alot more easier, ans should the BT try to launch another Ballistic missile attack, the Hoplites should use there EW units to prevent them from launching any scarabs.

The Canadian Armed Forces Council expects to began the operation just a week after Canada Day in July, at that time they will have deployed what is referred to as "Advanced Combat Trained Troops".

Just out of curiosity, is Canada talking to the CoC to work with them, or coordinate efforts, or at least try to avoid shooting at each other? Here's why I ask:

1. Mauritania was (is/was?) a CoC territory.
2. A very large CoC force is headed toward the capital city.
3. Canadian forces are in the port and intend to do battle in the capital city.

What's going to happen if Canada and the CoC run into each other inside a city that they are both fighting for? And what if the CoC reasserts their claim to Mauritania and orders the Canadians out?

If I were the Brown Trousers I would do everything I could to get Canada and the CoC shooting at each other. Even unsophisticated guerrilla fighters can Google "PSYOPS" or "Information Operations".

The Canadian army will avoid contact with the CofC forces in the city in order to prevent a both forces from fighting each other, so far the CofC is stuck fighting with AL-Kabab in the southern areas of the city, while Canada is soon to be making there second offensive on the Brown Trousers in the northern end, hopefully we can complete our mission here and leave before the CofC forces push further deep in the city. Besides I don't think the Brown Trousers have the ability to conduct PSYOPs operations.
