Hi,
yes the german closed thae area in Shilo.
Now they get trained in Poland.

Shilo was a training area for MBT´s and AIFV´s.

It wasn´t a home for a special tank unit or so.
In Shilo were based MBT´s (Leopard 1 A5) and AIFV´s.
But the Crew was chanced ever week (or month or so on).
So every geman unit had an exercice in Shilo for some weeks or month and than the next unit went to Shilo.

Because only in Shilo the german tank crew can use real 105mm ammo for the tank.

so long

Just wanted to resurrect this old thread for all those that have recently purchased the excellent Fennek and PzH2000 models.

If you want to match the NATO paint scheme check out http://www.panzerbaer.de/colours/index.htm. Excellent color drawings and more!

Fire Marder

Henschel also six prototypes (RU 211) of an armored mortar carrier manufactured armored infantry vehicles. Without the acquisition of the PzMrs 120mm had to be done however after troop testing 1970/71 from cost reasons. Only one the 22,9t of heavy test vehicles remained with the military engineering agency of the German Federal Armed Forces 51 (WTD 51) in Trier, responsible for the testing of wheel and tracked vehicles, where he was converted 1980 to the fire-extinguishing and rescue tank. Thats the Translation

Ben,

Awesome thanks! And I did get the email, thanks for that too. For the FFB, is there one truck with the crane and one flatbed truck for the bridge deck or are there more required? It looks like the bridge consists of a central deck and two ramps is that correct? Are there multiple deck sections? Is it compatable with the Leopard armored bridgelayer? Okay I'll stop asking questions or I know youll stop posting pictures. Thanks again.

Hi Paul,

your questions are welcome :D .
Your thoughts are particulary right - there are two different trucks, the bridgelayer (equipped with a crane and a ramp-like installation where the bridge elements are put on) and the transporter (the flatbed one which has folding down side panels).
I am not sure about the numbers but there are some transporters required to build a bridge.
Furthermore the bridge (the elements are one piece which unfold while being lifted) consists of centre and ramp sections. The bridge itself is build on a boom-like construction (which is build first), which becomes part of the bridge (unlike the British ABLE, where it is retracted after building the bridge).
The bridge is not compatible withe the Biber AVLB or the new PSB 2.
You will find further infos here (including some more photos):

Ben,

For the Biber AVLB I've seen references to trucks or trailers that carry additional bridge sections for the Biber to deploy if one bridge unit isn't enough. Are you at all familiar with these? If they do exist are the bridge sections carried flat on the truck or on their sides? How are the loaded unto the Biber for deployment? Thanks in advance. I'm trying to build a tactical bridging force so I'm going to be kitbashing this truck or trailer for my Biber unit.

Ciao,
Paul

Hi Paul,

you are absolutely right - there is such a trailer, if I remember right a simple flatbed trailer with a special fitting to carry the bridge. I may have reference on it but please allow some time.
Nevertheless maybe the info from panzerbaer helps out for the first (I try to translate ):
There is a Panzerbrückentransportanhänger Typ 2300269 made by Fa. Kögel.
The Biber bridge can be transported as "fixed" bridge or "knocked down".

For the British it would be "much" easier to give you reference photos, they have a Unipower M-Series based TBT (Tank Bridge Transporter) and before that a modified flatbed trailer as well...and I have pics of both...

Best regards,
Ben
