Favorite scenario types

I do not think that this has been discussed yet. Years ago I used to play Avalon Hills Squad Leader and Advanced Squad Leader games. One of my favorite scenarios was Hitdorf on the Rhine. Another was Road to Wiltz. These scenarios were exampes of bad situations. One side was doomed in each but what you had to do was do the best that you could despite the hopelessnes. These are some of my favorite scenarios.
Does anyone gravitate toward a specific scenario type? I like the desperate unfair situations to play. I will play the side that no one else wants to play.
Or do you play only "fair" games by points? I burned out on points games after many years as an Ancients gamer myself. War is not fair.

Not to break froma new subject but has anyone played ASL with micros? I suppose it defeats the advantage of being able to field larger armies with the smaller scale, but was ASL a good 1:1 game? I never played it myself.

I did once. I have a set of the GHQ infantry "blocks". It actually worked well. It would be even better with TerrainMaker hexes. When I played we used the extra large hex boards not foam hexes.

I have never played point systems. Maybe a scenario or 2 at the insistance of other players.
I always do historical or real world scenarios. I to like being in a position where I'm not suppose to win. Just dig in and be the biggest pain in the rear I can be. I'm surprized at how many of those I have ended up winning.

There is a YAHOO! Group dedicated to Squad Leader in Miniature. NOTE this is SL not ASL. It has some good stuff including, in the file section, a zipped version of the "Classic Sqaud Leader" rules. When you unzip the file you will see it's a WORD document of almost 200 pages. Good stuff for tactical battles. The URL is
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/slminiatures/
Try it, you may like it.

Try this site:
http://www.isimulacrum.com/GamesDB.html
Search on "S" and click the second link you see for Squad Leader. There are three photos of the counter sheets you could PhotoShop or whatever.
Also try this site for more links for SL/ASL stuff:

as for me I started getting into ASL with the minis, it was ok and then I got turned off from the forum (not the Yahoo!) and was getting into mods at the same time. I got rid of my rules a while ago and yes, the scenarios were short and fun. I suppose that I was looking for more complexity in the rules? or more playability with the minis and building up decent diorama type bases for the game. Also I preferred developing solo scenarios.

I saw a copy of the ASL rules at my local gaming store. Let me know if anyone is interested and I'll give you their contact info.
