Hello, This is my first time on this forum. I am 14 years old and I have been painting for 3 years now.
This is a French army I made for a Kufra (Liberia) scenerio.

Armypainter - Welcome aboard the forum. Excellent work on your miniatures. When you get the chance, post some photo's of the Italian forces.
Keep up the good work.

I ...

That army is ... just ...

I mean ... Wow! :?

Lookit that! The boy has left me speachless! :P

VERY NICE!

You are 14? Painting for 3 years? I've been painting micros since I was 14, which is now more than 30 years. My stuff doesn't look nearly that good!

Wow! Very Nice! (Did I say that already? Sorry...)

The trucks are beatiful. I particularly like the windscreens. I often consider trucks to be a great test of painting. How does one make something so mundane as a truck look good. You've succeeded admirably.

Please do tell us about your army. What did you use for the cavalry troopers (Russians?), and what formations do they represent.

Can you tell us more about the forces you've built and are building. Any information on scenarios?

Wow. VERY nice.

I think Mk1 said it all, but I've got to say it again - great job! ...and you're only 14?! You're killing me! When I was that age I don't think I even figured out you're supposed to paint this stuff!

Thanks everyone!!!!

MK 1 Thank you for your feedback! This is my first Micro Army in like 1 ½ I usually paint 15mm Flames of War(I’m on that forum to).

If you look at Wikipedia and seach Kufra theres a bunch of info.

I used Polish cavalry, they work because they don’t have helmets on(with 6mm you can tell what side they are by the helmets. I used Russian GAZ AA trucks for AA truck.

Sorry I can’t get a good pic of the board because it’s big and its in the basement son it’s hard to get lighting.

Nicely done.

What did you use for the infantry bases?

and what are the dimensions? I need to base my infantry and this looks like an excellent reference.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner.......

I play Flames Of War with my 6mms, I had to adjust the rules a bit but other than that it’s easy .
I have them based as so:

Infantry= 2x2/7 guys/3 hit before killed* ( I wanted to fit 12 but that is to tight so in the game I just count 1 stand as 12 guys, then 3 makes a platoon)

Scouts = 1â€￾ rounded base/4 guys/1 hit

Motors/HMG= 1â€￾ rounded base/3 guys/1 hit

Cavalry= “11/2** 1â€￾/8 hoarse men/ 2 hits

I half all of the movements and shooting distance.

*the hit carry over from turn to turn.
** it’s a little over 11/2

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the explanation. Every little bit helps! Particularly among die-hard addicts like us.

Thanks for the idea. I really do like the way the cav turned out. The hats look like Kepi's. Very nice.

What cavalry unit are you trying to portray with them? I have a photo of Leclerc, when he was just a Lieutenant, wearing just such a Kepi, and the cape of the Spahis. I have bought a fair bunch of cossacks which I plan to paint up as Spahis de Maroc (red capes) if and when I get the chance. I'll need some officers with Kepis to lead them!

Thanks for the pointer. I was not aware Wiki had anything on Kufra (Koufra to the French, Cufra to the Italians).

Is that what you have used to generate your armies? Have you played any games with "developed" scenarios? Any and every source is welcome.

I am sometimes accused of going somewhat "overboard" (by some folks' standards) in my interest in military history. French North Africa in 1942/43 is one of my favorite areas of study, although my interest in it, and so my library of sources, has only really developed over the past several years (vs. decades of study of the Eastern Front).

I happen to have a print of a recon photo of Koufra from that period. Both the oasis village, and the fortress (El Taq) are visible. It ain't the best of photos, so I don't promise much, but if you are interested I might be convinced to scan it in and post it or send it to you.

I also have some interesting details of the actions of the whole "Colonne de Tchad" that are mostly first-hand, in a manuscript called: Le General Leclerc, vu par ses compagnons de combat ("General Leclerc, as seen by his combat companions"), which was published in France in 1948/49.
Sorry I can’t get a good pic of the board because it’s big and its in the basement son it’s hard to get lighting.
We'd probably settle for a poor picture of the board. Really, we would!

Heres the table.......

Image[/img]

I know it not a work of art but the game was fun! I played my Dad, it was a close game but I won with the French.

I am putting all the figs on Ebay(I have the Itailan Sahariana on now).

I got this game from Steel Panther World At War(spwaw) thats where I got the force sizes.
Sadly I have 15mm to paint so I won't do 6mm for a while  :(.

All for now.

What do you think of the table?
Sorry I will put the Itailans on soon.
