Hello (my first topic^^)

Post by Gen. Wilhelm »

Hi every body!
First, I wanted to say to GHQ that I love their models. Since I was 5, I was always thinking about very little soldiers, and whan I was 15, I saw on internet GHQ, and I fell in love with it. (sorry I am not very good in English).
Then, I wanted to ask you what color scheme I must use for my german soldiers. I want to paint them as panzer grenadiers color schemes, but I don't know what color to use.

Thanks a lot! :D :D
Ps: I use GamesWorkshop colors.^^

Some of the figuresfrom my collection:
Image
Early attempt with "Other Guys" DAK. Trousers and caps are RAL 8000 1941 Afrika Grunbraun and the tunics are RAL 7008 1941 Afrika Khakibraun, both enamels from Model Master .

Early Fallschirmjagers, again from the "other guys". GHQ didn't have anything comparable at the time. The trousers and caps are Polly S Ger Uniform Gray Acrylic and the tunics are the same Afrika Khakibraun used on the DAK figures in the previous picture.

These figures are all painted in Vallejo German Fieldgrey WWII #830.

In this photo, the officer has the vallejo fieldgey trousers and the jacket is Tamiya fieldgrey XF65. His helmet is Vallejo German Grey#995. The other two figures are done in Tamiya fieldgrey as well.

In this shot the kneeling figure on the left is an attempt at late war reed pattern camo using 1943 panzer olivgrun as a base, and panzer schokoladenbraun and Afrika Khakibraun for the camo colors. It doesn't really show up all that well. The kneeling rifleman on the right is all Tamiya fieldgrey, and the prone MG figure is vallejo fieldgrey

I have found that the Tamiya fieldgrey is greener, the Vallejo is a truer grey, and the polly s is slightly more blue tinted. All the colors are used straight from the bottle with no shading or highlighting. The DAK and FJs were painted straight over the metal, but the GHQ figures were primed either gray or black. These pics are designed to show the various colors available, and not make any claim to historical accuracy for any given period.
Tactics are the opinion of the senior officer present.
