I'm wondering what caliber the mortars are in G-145 are, the heavy weapons pack says they have 80 and 120mm mortars, so that leaves the german's lighter mortar, the 50mm one.
Do you guys think that at this scale, the 50 and 80mm mortars are about interchangeable on this scale?
I'm using some of Ritter's OrBats that come with the lastest volume of Schwere Kompanie, as well as some of the ones from Fire and Fury Games' Battlefront website (which I think handles about the same scale, but somewhat disagrees with Ritter's OrBats). I'm not worried about that, at least. They do tend to be more what they ought to be on paper, and as such units are usually understrength...
Anyhow, Answers/comments/opionions welcome!

Re: German mortars?
To my eye the mortar pictured in the catalog for G-145 is the 50mm mortar.Xveers explained:

To me, 50mm and 80mm mortars are generally not interchangeable at this scale. 80mm and 120mm would be more interchangeable, or 60mm and 80mm (or 3-inch if Brit). My reasoning is that 45mm and 50mm mortars were generally fired by prone crewmen, while 60mm, 3-inch, 80 and 82mm, and 120mm were fired by kneeling and standing crewmen. No matter the mortar (which is hard to judge at this scale), it is the crewmen that would tell me whether it was a light or medium mortar.
My $0.02 worth. Your mileage may vary.

Ahh the basing question!
I admit that the 'old' system was easier to distinguish 1st Line and Assault Squads apart but in the interest of eye candy, (and using up more spare Infantry!) I added a LMG to the 1st line squad and a second MP40 to the Assault squad. You could continue to use the 'old' basing with no ill effect (my US and French are still based this way and they still kick a little butt now and then!)
BTW, are you attending Salute 2007 in March?

Yup! I've kept my Friday and Saturday clear in anticipation for your games (I'm provisionally running a pair of games on Sunday as a wind-down. Are you going to grace us with your presence and perhaps run a battle or two? If you are I'm DEFINITELY in. Might even have some more units painted by then..
