Hello all this is not really a model question but has to do with modeling and gaming. Has anyone any extra Profile or Bellona reference books, or know where i can find some to buy. I have already bought a couple off of E-bay. Just wondering i use them going thru and doing armor thicknesses and gun data for our gaming group. Also has anyone every heard of a program called Hewelet packard balastic program? If so i would be very, very interested in any of the above data thanks.

The best place to start your search is AddAll.com. This is a book search site that combines up to 20 individual book searches like ABE, Amazon, Bibliofind, Booksamillion, Powells, etc. I just did a quick search and located about 150 listings for the Bellona books and another 50 for the AFV Profile books that you would find interesting.

I have a few old Bellona reference books (pamphlets) and they are so-so on armor data. No I haven't heard of the Hewlett Packard ballistic program. I wrote my own ballistics program but it is for naval more than land combat.

That is cool mobius are you planning a program for land? If you would not mind sharing how did you come up with the program for the naval game? I would be interested in that also. I was looking at Combat Mission Barbarosa to Berlin CPU game. It has nice charts for armor and pentration values for the eastern front and some american and British stuff of course it is mainly sherman, stuart, halftracks, churchills, matalidas. But thanks for the info guys and anyone wanting to sell any let me know.

For land combat I have data from actual military tests or from reports like you see in the Bellona booklets.
And have put that in my wargamer rules Panzer War.

But I don't have that for naval as the tests were rare and hard to come by. So I used Nathan Okun's armor
penetration programs and combined them with Robert McCoy's ballistic programs to make by Naval Armor and Ballistics
program. Naab.

Both of which are free downloads from my site.
I wouldn't recommend using the Naab for WWII tank shells because it uses a standard shape model for heavy naval shells. Light tank and anti-tank guns had a great variaty of shapes and nose caps which greatly influenced penetration not modeled in the program.

Hi,
as this topic deals with reference sources...
Some of you may like this (some already have stuff of them):

I own lots of their stuff and have to say that I am happy with it, their webpage is quite nice - you can also view some sample pages of their publications.
Best greetings,
Ben

Try the original Tractics rules. As I remember they have all the tanks, half tracks, and scout vehicles listed with their armor, power to weight, etc...
I have some of both references somewhere in my library stacks if you must have the original material, but why start from scratch when others have already done the work?
