Your army dosen't -have- to be completely accurate. Gaming is full of "what-if" scenarios, so you shouldn't feel too restricted by what's available when. It more depends on your fellow gamers rather than any kind of restrictive ruleset.
I'd personally say the rulebook's worth the cost for several reasons, namely it's a good ruleset to start, and plays fairly fast, and it also comes with pretty decent TO&Es for all the armies seen in the war (except for the Canucks... they got a small supplement to the rules later on

I have created a small list from the WW2 book for Germans, Russians and French for early war ('39-41) just using the force composition from within the book. Or, just do some research on the net and find some historical lists.
You got that one right...I also have it and it is really well written and the layout is pretty good as well. And the Canadian supplement is simply outstanding, probably one of the best written game supplements anywhere, anytime.

Re: ghq ww2 rulebook
As with any game you can "make up" any organization you want, but of course if you want to be historical, than more care should be taken on your organization.skarsniktheunclean wrote:hi all, in a few weeks im going to getting the ghq ww2 rule book, and my 1st ghq models,my first question is does your army have to be historically accurate or do you make you own army, and also is the rulebook worth £20

The TO&Es of GHQs rules only goes as high as Battalion. You will need to do a little more research if you want to command anything higher such as Brigades, and Divisions. Also to be noted is that GHQs rules are made on a basis of 1 to 5 scale ,or one particular "stand or base" equals roughly a platoon.
I also own a set of rules called "Spearhead". This rule set also is on a scale of 1Base equals 1 platoon. The TO&E of this rule set is more expanded for organizations beyond the battalion. If I need to organize a unit on 1 to 5 scale such as a brigade I turn to these rules (just beacause I have them). I really don't play Spearhead anymore.
I beleive your £20s( £20? seems to me it should be more like £15)is well spent for the game. I also know you will be very happy with the minis. Watch out! They are EXTREMELY addictive.
(They should come with a warning)
