About the German 105mm LFH-
I have a half dozen or so packs of these (G-54) bought when they were released.
All contain 4 guns in "towed" mode.
Has GHQ ever done the gun in firing position?
If so, any chance they (you?) would sell those guns seperately?
Assuming neither; have any of you folks tried cutting apart the trails and arranging them into something reasonably correct? (i'm mounting on bases, btw)
looks posible, but I'd like to know if anyone else has already tried it before I take a knife to my cannons...

I do it all the time. I have even recently taken the towed version of the Soviet D30 ,cut the tri folded trails, spread them apart ,reglue them into position, and bend the wheels into the firng position.

Thanks jb.
Nice photo. I just saw one of those guns in Pennsylvania last fall; ex Iraqi. :o
I'm afraid I'm pretty bad photographer; I've tried to take pics of micro, but all too blured to use...
I've no prob. on separating & spreading the trails; done that lots over the years.
Have to be easier than what you did on that "ruski"!
On the LFH, the recoil spade folded forward over the trail for towing, so I will have to cut the trail and turn the rear half around...Have you done that?
It wouldn't be perfect, but seems it would work/ look OK...
I'm guessing they never made a "deployed" version yet?
I could order the newer horse-drawn version to see, but need lots of stuff right now & have trouble with the "1 per pack" on that item...
Dumb of me not to have mentioned the gun I was wondering about in the header!

JR,
I know what you mean about that spade. I really don't want to get into that kind of surgery saving the spade. Iwould just cut ioff or grind it off and stick something towards the trail ends to resemble the spades being dug in.
Just a thought ..

Hi JR

G54 which is the German 105mm howitzer does come with both deployed and towed trails. Until just a few years ago you could only get it in the towed version but they do now make the deployed version. It comes in a pack of 2 towed, 2 deployed plus 2 prime movers. As to the ATG gun crews, you can probably call GHQ if you need some extra crews which come in 4 man groups. I would like to see these as individuals but would be happy if they would do a French AT crew and a "summer" Russian AT crew. Using the Americans in this case doesn't cut it for me. I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks guys.
I'll try some surgery on the trails of a couple, & it shouldn't be too hard to mock up a new spade for them.
I suspect I'll be looking into the "new" version of the pack too...
Heck, if I wreck a couple, I guess I have more than I really need these days.
