I posted a request for help a little while back asking what to do about my airbrsh, a Badger Model 200 "pulsating. I spoke with the Badger folks, they said get a new head assembly and needle and that should do it, Did so, got the size fine for both and I am not able to get the damn thing to spray.

I've taken it apart and reassembled it any number of times, cleaned it, and still no luck. It still pusates withe medium parts and dosen't do anything withthe fine.

At this point I am assumeing it is defective, but don't know how. The problem has defeated me

What recommendations would anyone care to give as to what model to get for painting micro armor? I was able to get some done using my airbrush and tend to think they look better then when brush painted and I thought I would continue.

...I've owned Badgers,Paasches,and now an Aztek. They've all had problems of some sort. I would say that airbrushes in general are very touching. I would say the biggest problem with all of them is the paint. The latest problem I've encountered airbrushing is using Poly-S paints. The Poly-S has a tendency to "glog up" even in the bottle. These little critters (very small) will clog up any airbrush. Other paints dry too quick and stop or slow flow, so you don't want to put your brush down for over a minute.
Anyways the brush I use now is what I would recommend,just because it works and I know how to keep it working-Aztek

I am new to the airbrushing world as well. The guy at the local hobby shop recommended a Paasche, so I picked up a Paasche VL double action unit. The whole kit can be had online for $70 or so.

After a couple of weeks of frustration I finally am starting to figure it out. Don't expect to master it right away. After three weeks of practice I am finally able to apply a good thin base coat for monochromatic paint schemes. Camo action is going to be a ways off for me!

Still, it's a lot of fun. Just have patience!

i saw the same item tsalyards at a local shop here....same model and everything. The cost would be almost 200

I also agree on this one. Double Action is the way to go, but you need patience and practice to figure it out.

Perhaps you were looking at a kit with a compressor? I was not including that in the cost. Here is the item I was referring to:

Just a thought on the clogging problem.
Could the siphon feed possibly create the spattering. I recall having the same problem years ago when iI was using a single action Badger with the siphon bottle.
I don't believe I've had that problem since changing to Iwata top fed, double action A/Bs and using CO2 tanks. I use mostly acrylics and some Testors enamels,

Bruce, good point that might be it. WHM there is a little pin hole in the top of the Badger siphon bottle, make sure its not obstructed - or maybe even enlarge it a tad if you want one last desperate act. Try it that way and see if it works.

Hi there,

I recently bought an Air Brush made by Revel, and had a problem with it clogging, and have made the hole in the lid a little bigger. This seems to have cured the problem with the brush clogging up, so maybe that might be a good thing to try to stop you problem.

I am looking at getting an Airbrush to do the fine detail, can someone recommend a good Airbrush for this. My local Modael shop has an Aztek duel action, and was wondering how good these are.
