Micronaut Ocean Base -- Realistic bow waves?

I been lurking around the forum and searching the web but can't seem to find the gouge on making those bases for my ships that have a reasonable looking bow wave and waves in general.
Since I plan to use them with a homemade plywood gameboard I will put felt on the bottom, plan to use plastic card cut to the right size for the model. Can anyone point me to the right site?

Let me translate for my greenshirt friend:
to find "the gouge" is to obtain knowledge or information. There is "good gouge" and "bad gouge" and if bad gouge is bad enough it can attain the status of "anti-gouge". You definitely don't want to get the reputation of being someone who gives bad gouge.

Here's what I did, which is inexpensive and easy. I used hammered shower door glass for the water, and then used silicone caulk for the wake, along with white paint.
