Rolls Royce disapointment

Post by Keith »

Have been looking forward to the release of the Rolls Royce armoured car for quite a while, but what's this? The model is of the old 'classic' version with enclosed turret and vickers mg. Most gamers buying this model will want to use it in the Western Desert campaign, for which the cars were modified with an open topped turret containing a Boys AT rifle, Bren gun and smoke discharger. A split pack with some of each version might have been an idea.

I don't disagree that it would be nice to have the modified version used in the early western desert campaign.

But from my readings I have the impression that only a portion of the Rolls Royces were so modified. I have some pretty specific recollection of a picture in the old Ballentine's book on Beda Fomm of a "classic" version in service in the desert. So I would not rule out the version that GHQ has provided.

So indeed a split pack, such as GHQ provides on many other models, would have been a valid idea.

Or you might just get JB to make the open-turret-plus-Boys-ATR-plus-Bren mods for you, and then get Troy to paint the moustache onto the dashing unit CO!

Oh, and please do post some pics for us when you do!
