If anyone knows it, or even similar sites, please can you post it again.
Well, there are a LOT of sites with photos of AFVs out there. Can you recall more about the site in question?
Was it a hobbyist site of some sort? I can think of modelling sites with many great pictures of equipment that provide exceptional detailed views.
Or was it focused on a particular nation or theater of war? Off-hand I can think of sites that focus on Soviet, German, or Canadian WW2 forces as an example, or Finnish or Swedish armored vehicles throughout history. Also modern US, Russian/FSU, Chinese, or Isreali forces.
I can also think of sites that just collect museum photos of all sorts -- WW1, WW2, Modern, etc.
Or we could just create an ongoing thread to provide links to pictures of AFVs. We've taken similar steps with threads to discuss and post pics of the forces of nations of particular interest (German, British, etc.).
There is just such a thread going on TankNet right now for links to pictures of tanks (not AFVs in general, just tanks) that has easily 40 or 50 links. It is a fair bit of work to create and organize such a collection. If there is interest, I could ask that thread's originator if he would mind my cross-posting his summary here.

An on going thread of pics would be cool
but sorry, i can't be of more help. It wasn't a hobby site but was real life photos. The site covered ALL nations, ALL periods and EVERY type of vehical even field guns (I think). A ery simple site that just listed the vehicals name and where the pics were from as a link to the pics. Had a terracotta background if thats any help...
If you can post some cross over pics from the other site i'm sure that would be appreciated by all

The cross-over I suggested had links to perhaps 50 or 60 different sites, each with many dozens, if not hundreds, of pics. I would not offer to post thousands of pics, or even thousands of links to pics, here. That might be abusive of our hosts' bandwidth.
However, I shall approach the originator of the other thread about cross-posting his list of sites.

Can't say that I believe I have the site you seek, but here are a couple you might consider. Neither seems to qualify as a terra cotta background. But here they are:

Armyreco is a commercial site. You will pay for their pics. But they have many.

The Silicon Valley Scale Modeller. Go to the galleries section of their website, to the "Walk Arounds", and check out the gallery of armor. It's quite impressive. And it's free. Free is good. Most of the pics are done by Vladimir Yabukov, a friend of mine who is as serious about his studies of armor as I am, but who travels and photographs armor (particularly Eastern European armor) with a passion and professionalism that certainly surpasses my amature efforts.
Hope that helps.
