Hello all, kind of a departure from my naval obsession for a minute here.

I have some Leo 2s that i have been wanting to paint for a while now...and in watching the tank videos a few threads down, saw several different variations of camo on them. Now i THINK the "NATO" scheme is green with small areas of brown and black, but is this applied like WWII camo was, varying from tank to tank, or is there some set "pattern" or guideline to follow? They all seem to look pretty similar....o, last question, i have Polly Scale Nato tri color Green, Nato tri color brown, and Nato tri color black....those are the right colors? I wonder if they will look ok in the small scale?

My ground tastes tend towards hordes of green T80s and BMPs....and WWII german armor in 1/35....so tricolor camo in this scale, will be a learning experience. Ill be sure and post pics, no matter how these come out

Those colors work good. But, thet NATO tri brown could be a little more "orangish" but still brown for the Bundeswehr. And in this scale I use the Pol-S green-black for the black. Trust me it comes out like it should in scale.
Now for the "style" overall Tri- green with varing size irregular shaped splotches.

For the NATO three-tone, I spray with Testors Medium Green. Then apply military brown as I see fit, (sometime small three spoke pattern, large stripe across vehicle &/or small stripe or dot), then apply black in similar fashion usually. I use black, or gunmetal for the vision slots and tracks and also use black ink marker for tracks lately.

Poly Scale paint works well but like Chris said the brown could be made a touch more orange to match the "Leather Brown" the Bundeswehr uses. The NATO black is also too black, I cut it with a little green to make it more of a black green. It makes the color blend or "lie down" better - sorry that's the only way I can dscribe it.

I have used these camo color scheme for my three tone NATO, for the following: US, Brits, French, Italian, Dutch, Canadian, and anyone else who may use the following vehicles: M1A1, M1A2, M2A2, M2, M109, M113, MCV 80, Challenger, LeClerc, AMX10p, AMX10RC, Marder, Marder 1A3, Leopard 1, Leopard 2 and A6, YPR 765, Strykers, and support & recon.

the french have a more "bright" color tone than the other nato country. In fact they're out of nato. And it also seems to me that the german tone is a little more "matt" confronted with the other nato countries that uses this scheme.
