Foliage for WW2 Tanks?

Post by cabin4clw »

Hi,

Here's a question for you. What type of materials can I use for foliage on my tanks? I have a few done already but for the life of me I can't remember what I used since it was so long ago.

Any help would be great.

Joe,

I've never tried it, but a couple of possibilities come to mind...

(1) Dab a little white glue where you want the foilage to stick, then sprinkle on "your favorite brand" of ground foam. If it didn't work to your satisfaction, you could probably just soak the tank in water until the glue dissolved, and the ground foam would "float away"...

(2) Woodland Scenics makes a product called "Foilage". It has a base that seems to be connected, twisted fibers which resemble small branches, and an "embedded" ground foam. It makes pretty good looking trees -- and I imagine it would serve as foilage on a tank. I'd probably use the same method to attach it; i.e., dabs of white glue.

Here's a picture from my website, where I've made trees from picture hanger wire, Sculpey clay, putty, etc., and added Woodland Scenics F52 Medium Green Foilage:
