News flash for all you 1/2400 Modellers - There's now a photo available of the new pack. We have a Sunderland flying boat, a Walrus seaplane, a Swordfish torpedo bomber , a single engine fighter ( possible Seafire?) and a twin engine low wing monoplane-perhaps a Beaufighter. Someone with younger eyes than mine, or a larger computer monitor, will have to confirm my two probables.

Update to the Update - There is a callout of the aircraft in the pack - The probable Beafighter is actually a Beaufort, the Beaufighter's predeccessor.

Too bad in a way. I was hoping they might have Mosquitos. Still I'll probably buy a couple of packs.

The Sunderland is an excellent choice; one of the best and most widely-built patrol seaplanes of the war.

The Beaufort is a very good choice; especially considering it was designed specifically for anti-shipping attack.

I have reservations about the Walrus. Many of the UK surface ships that carried catapult planes have already been modeled with a Walrus on them.

I don’t see the benefit of including the Swordfish. Every UK carrier modeled already includes this aircraft. I would have preferred Albacore, Skua, or Barracuda

The Seafire/Spitfire is a good choice. I would have preferred one of the specifically naval designs (Fulmar or Firefly) and relatively more fighters compared to the Sunderland and Beaufort figures.

All things considered, a good set of aircraft and I intend to purchase some. I hope that the title (WWII British Aircraft Pack #1) is accurate and that there is a #2, etc. to follow.

Speaking of WWII British Aircraft Pack #2; here is my list of what I would like to see included, more or less in order of preference.

My first choice is to have a pack that provides the as-yet unmodelled aircraft designed for carrier-based operation: Albacore, Skua, Barracuda, Fulmar, and Firefly. Since the British policy was to keep aircraft below-deck as much as possible, compared to the US or Japanese practice of keeping large numbers of aircraft on the flight deck, these should be primarily in the extended-wing mode. Folded-wing versions should be small in number, if at all.

My alternate choices are:

For a large aircraft, provide one of the obsolescent twin-engine bombers adapted for maritime patrol after the four-engine heavy bombers became available: I would prefer a Wellington, but a Whitley would also be useful.

With the Beaufort available in Pack #1, it seems logical to put the Beaufighter in Pack #2. A Mosquito would also be welcome, but my impression is that Beaufighters were used for maritime attack more often than Mosquitos.

(Sea) Hurricanes would be useful. Although of lower performance than the Spitfire, they were better suited to carrier adaptation.

The British used a significant number of Lockheed Hudsons for maritime patrol.

I would like some Seafox models. They were used much less than the Walrus, but I have too many Walrus already.
