I know on the surface this is dumb, irrelevent question but hear me out.
I have been working on a home grown set of rules and found out I have to get better at Access. My plan is to convert my rules to an Access platform so I can have a fun way to improve my professional skills and at the same time have more functionality in the game design.
My question is: How may gamers have access on their computer? I know most have word and excel but how many could even run a rule set from access?

Microsoft Access
Voltigeur,
I use Access databases for music\video collections, work orders and inventories.
I'd be interested in a computer based set of rules that would take out some of the die rolling and reference paperwork. Back in the 80's I started on a text based program on my old Commodore 64. Never did finish it though.
Good luck on your project. I wish GHQ would come up with a computer program based on their rules.

I recently bought a set of WW2 Computer moderated rules from http://computerstrategies.bigpondhosting.com/index.htm
They turned out to be a simple Access db and whilst the idea was fine in practise they were pi$$-poor.
Volti - if you get a set of rules working in MS Access I'd give 'em a spin. Use forms and make them look nice and get the turn sequence sorted as well.
Also make it so that you can add lots of data without having to re-write everything.
Good luck Dood,
Battler

Wow thanks for all the feed back. I feel like I gotta get them done tonight!
I have wrote the rules in word and Excel because i knew that most people had those programs. I hadn't considered doing them a computer moderated but Access definitly puts that on the table. I'm wanting to do it in such a way that when you write your scenario you can pull only the vehicles and weapons that are to be used in that game only. The problem has been keeping to player to 4 pages or less of charts. I can lay out better sheets with an access report.
One idea that was suggested was an operator button that would allow you to choose between rolling dice and havig the computer just feed you results.
I started building the tank database and will be working on the guns. Then I will tie this together so when you put a Tank type in the proper gun charts will automatically diplay on the vehicle chart.
I'll keep you posted.
