I have two sample packs of British and French equipment and troops and was wondering what colors to use on vehicles and uniforms? I have seen some of the excellent displays on this site but was wondering what shades to use on the tanks and colors for the uniforms.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. :?

WW2 or Moderns?

Presuming you mean WW2 French ...

Infantry uniforms are a color referred to as Khaki but with far more green than most Khakis. Closer to a medium / light green with a touch of tan. Some officers had tan pantaloons under their khaki coats.

Polly-S makes a color called "French Khaki" which I use.

For WW2 French armor -- you get to have lots of fun. Many colors used. Lots of different schemes.

Basic French Khaki serves for the base colors on many French tanks. But many were also had outline patterns of yellow-ochre, which make it look as if the ochre was the base color and the green-khaki was added in blotches, and some add blotches of red-brown. Others had outlines of the red-brown around the blotches of green-khaki.

I have some of my tanks in khaki. Some base-coted in Afrika Mustard (close to French ochre) with patches of khaki and red-brown, and some in Afrika Mustard with squiggles of red-brown.

Hope that helps.

I have a color chart here:
http://www3.telus.net/Ritterkrieg/colors.htm

Its mostly Humbrol colors (love to try out some GHQ paints - hint - hint-nudge - nudge  :)  ) but the color swatches are pretty accurate.

SHould be a good place to start.

Thank you for the information. The models are great as usual. I have much to choose from for French armor. :D
