I've been trying to take some pics of some of my stuff to post, yet I cannot seem to get the proper background to work. I've tried a neutral color to help with the back ground and foreground, but it takes away the colors of the mini's.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this?
I've tried off white, a very light grey or tan brown color etc in cloth and paper for this.

I've tried gray and white - gray seems to work better for me, although I still have to do some color rendering in a photo program to get the colors back to what the mini looks like in real life.
There are a lot of variables to play with on your camera (potentially) - but more or less you're white balance is probably off or the lighting your using is causing some color shift. I'm still very much learning how to take pictures - and I've had to experiment with a lot of camera settings and a number of backgrounds.

I use a light blue piece of typing paper out of a pack of colored stationary as a background for my ships against a dark blue "ocean" surface (the ocean is a background sheet for an aquarium) It mostly washes out under the lights I use to photograph my ships but retains just enough blue to give the desired effect.
Here is an example of my USS Delaware photographed this way
I hope this helps.
