GHQ Models Forums

We have put the finishing touches on our list of 2008/2009 new releases. The process is a combination of art and science. We receive thousands of suggestions every year from e-mail, phone calls, posting on our website forum, in the mail, talking to people at conventions, etc. We have many different lines to cover, and many different nationalities within each line. We try to get a little something for everyone, and hit some of the lines harder than others. The list is never perfect. Some people will love it, many won't. We want to support the models that we already have, and we are always looking to expand the horizons of the hobby. Love it, or hate it, here it is:

In addition, we have one of the most exciting announcements that we have ever made. As military historians, all of you have pondered many “what if?â€￾ scenarios. WWII is absolutely full of these. Until now it has been impossible to actually game any of these scenarios because no models of the German, and many Allied, post-1945 equipment existed in any scale. In one of our most exciting announcements in years, GHQ would like to introduce our new Wermacht ’47® line of Micro Armour®. This line has been developed from many historical sources and will allow you to model and game many of the land and air scenarios that have been floating through your heads over the years. In addition, we will be putting a FREE Wermacht ’47® supplement to our WWII rules on our website this winter, and release the first releases to this exciting new line at the same time.

US Light AT weapons -awesome! Again - thank you GHQ! Does the .30 cal class as a Light AT weapon? I REALLY hope so...this is the biggest hole in my US line!

Some interesting and cool stuff here - US PARAS, US Lt AT, I have two questions Jim; what is G161 Nightfighter Kampfgruppe and HOW IN THE WORLD did the Matilda I not make this list? No clue as to the 1947 stuff and absolutely no interest either. Another year with no ACW entries greatly dissappoints me beyond words. Sorry, but the line is not complete and apparently will not ever be so.

Well, it looks like another year listening to the Matilda 1 people...

I love the all the chinese vehicles and the NATO vehicles but one of these years I would like to put some infantry into the those Marders and VABS

Overall it looks to be a good year and the Wehrmacht 47 stuff sounds interesting....

What? A "1947 line of German micro-armor? Where did that come from? Was there a huge outcry for those things that I somehow missed? Is GHQ a few steps away from making science fiction models next? That "pewter" would have been better used to make 10mm ACW figures, MATILDA 1's, and Soviet SU-12's.

There are a few things in the list that will be useful.

Another British County Class cruiser (HMAS Canberra), and I'm gonna try and use this model for the Berwick and Cornwall too (depending on what its config is).
British V&W class destroyers!?! Absolutely fantastic - can't wait to see what options you model for these!

Many cool choices for the other lines too, I know the masses will be happy to see the US para's and modified Lorraine schlepper with 15cm sFH, and lots of cool aircraft.

Good job GHQ! Now get crackin on next year's list, you'll get plenty of input from us!

While some of the new Micronauts that made the list are indeed perplexing (4 more WW1 Russians???), there's still a goodly number of items on my own personal wishlist to make me look forward to this crop of new 1/2400 scale beauties.
Many thanks for the additions to the WW1 US Navy line (only a Minnesota-based company would think to make a model of BB-22!), as well as the WW1 version of the FURIOUS (will it come as a CV only, with a Sopwith Camel airwing, or will you let us build it as an 18" battlecruiser???) From the WW2 items, CANBERRA and the V&W's will likewise find their way into my collection.
For all of us that also collect modern (Cold War and beyond) warships, I guess we have to wait until next year, while we add these new gems to our collections over the next few months.

We are glad to hear that there are a lot of enthusiastic responses to our new release list. As for the Wermacht '47 line, yes, there are a lot of requests for it. It is far from being science fiction. The plans for many of the vehicles, and many of the vehicles themselves, that the Germans had under development can be found in many places. This new line opens up a completely new frontieer of "What if...?" gaming. The Wermacht '47 line is another example of how GHQ is constantly pioneering new areas of wargaming and military modeling.

That would be Panthers and 251s with IR capabilities. The 251s would light up targets with the IR searchlights and the panthers would pickup the targets with IR sights. In realty the range was very short, the IR equipment was oversized, and i don't recall how effective this type of unit was.
The US paras are a welcome releif. We still have Soviets without rifles and now 1947 stuff?? I've not seen any demand for that on this forum-where did it come from?

I have requested many vehicles and pieces of equipment from the German "what if" category (1947). These can be found on any number of German armor sites, including "Achtung Panzer."
Of course these are not to everyone's taste but the Matilda will be produced and more ACW pieces will be issued. I am looking forward to all of the items and I will have to go back and review my literature for some of the WW2 items listed.
The powers that be at GHQ can only introduce so many new products over a year's period while continuing to maintain the huge line they already have. I would just encourage a little patience. Certainly, this forum is a good place to discuss your frustration. On the other hand, this is the best 1/2400, 1/285 manufacturer in the world and I am grateful for what they do.
This is no brown nosing. I will get nothing from this. I am sincere in what I say. Hang in there, all things come to he who waits.

Well shut ma mouth. U.S. Paratroopers are coming out in October. No more complaining and moaning from 8ball. I expect there will be a knock affect. The paras will get me all excited about WWII again, and I'll have to fill in some of the other gaps in my collection.

P.S. - Please ask the sculptor to create a homogeneous group of natural poses. The GHQ modern U.S. and Israelis are excellent examples of figures that look right grouped together on a base (with the possible exceptions of the prone SAW gunners). Take a look at AB Miniatures, Peter Pig, and FoW for ideas. Please, no rifles waving in the air.

Looks like some other neat stuff coming out too. From my POV, this is the best release list I've seen yet.
