Do these GHQ models have the "mud guards"/fenders molded to the model? I've noticed that in period photos many of these vehicles lack this feature and I prefer the way they look sans mud guards.

Thanks in advance!

Molded on.

Have fun converting them to without...

Darn! In fact today I was playing a friend's 20mm game and it included M8s with and without the covers. The M8s sans covers just look so darn nice IMO. With the covers it looks like a bad Sci-fi "hovercraft". Without it just looks more rugged to me.

I know its conventional to show AFVs with complete armor kit (eg M8 and PzIV H) but the excellent Concord series of books shows just how often such bits are removed or get knocked off!

I have tried to convert and it is d..n near impossible. No one makes a model of this kind and it would be welcomed. Most of the pics of M-8s I have seen have at least one fender missing. Also, when the Germans captured them and re-used them (IE Panzer Bde 150) they removed the mudguards to make them look more like German AFVs. The best option would be to sculpt them separately so that you could attach to your own liking. Ah yes, yet another episode of

MICRO ARMOR PIPE DREAMS.

Lots of work, but you could probably get away with cutting off the fenders and wheels altogether and then attach some extra wheels that match...
