Battalion-level WWII/Modern Game List (1 stand ~ 1 platooon)

This is intended to be a handy reference for players seeking games in which 1 stand = roughly a platoon. Depending upon period/rule system this can mean anything from ~2:1 to ~5:1 with respect to "vehicle to model ratio".

Companies are the usual maneuver element or unit and both sides usually field a reinforced battalion or more.

I'll edit as others make suggestions!

Don't forget Frank Chadwick's excellent GDW Combined Arms (modern)

also GDW's Assault series is easily adapted to minis (Assault/Boots & Saddles/Chieftain/Bundeswehr)

also Kamfgruppe Commander is an outstanding WW2 rules set.

For Moderns I'd also recommend:
World at War: Eisenbach Gap
Team Yankee

Well, if we are going to talk adaptable board games, don't forget Sands of War (Middle East Conflict from WWII to the Gulf), and Battlefield: Europe (late '80's/early '90's.) Both are done by Frank Chadwick for GDW.

Avalanche Press makes a large series of boardgames in this format called Panzer Grenadier. Excellent for scenario ideas for microarmor.
