Cama - Both Ral Partha and Armory make (Made?) excellent spray primers. Armory primer was about the same consistency and grain as auto body primer. Partha was the finest grained spray paint I've ever seen, but was considerably more expensive than the other brands. I stocked up on spray primers several years ago, so I'm not sure if they're still available. I've also used a variety of brands I've picked up at hardware stores, because i no longer have a convenient local source for model paints.
This is a long way of saying check out your local hardware or auto supply stores. Their paint surely can't be more expensive than the brand you mentioned.
Good luck.

I use the Testors Model Master Camouflage Gray #1933 (FS36622) while technically it is not a primer, I have been using it for years and it is a very light off-white that shows detail well and dries quickly. I hope this helps.

I use flat white and not the primer (too thick) but the regular white. Its the best, cheapest I have found and have been using it for many years. Canuck Tire - good source.

I find that the regular paint has a better adhesion when using turp or varsol for washes and such - once cured it doesn't seem to lift as the primer does. I give the can a thurough shaking, paint in thin layers (usually 2 thin coats...don't worry if the first one doesn't get it all) and don't over-do the coverage...just a layer to add highlights and give the other layers something to stick to.

Pictures Cama...we want pictures! When you gonna put up a site again?

I use a latex metal primer. My most recent purchase was Weatherbeater exterior direct-to-metal latex primer from Sears. The smallest quantity available is one quart which should be a lifetime supply if you can keep it from going bad.

All of my priming and base coats are airbrushed. Diluting the primer at a ratio of 1 - 2 parts primer to 1 part water works very well in my Paasche VL.

Tamiya makes a fine primer for small scall models. They have a "fine" texture and "extra fine" texture. I use the "fine" texture on 1/72 scale models and it leaves a very smoth coat that doesn't obscure detail but still holds paint very well. I don't know if there is a big difference between the fine and extra fine varieties.

Cama, I just started using the Army Painter primers and spray paints. I must say I am impressed with the quality. They run about 11.99 USD per can. The Warstore carries the line.
