Gerry Nightfighters?
Was just browsing my copy of the newest GHQ catalog and noticed a new Combat Command out in Dec., G161 German Nightfighter KG. Is this part of the new '47 line?

I had noticed it, not my cup of tea - too specialized & doesn't IMHO reflect the typical case of what one could expect late war.
I think the vehicles in the night-fighting combat command were in use early 45 but I don't know if they were concentrated as independent battle groups or were distributed more as penny-packets. Maybe they will be part of Wehrmacht 47, if not they could probably be used as part of such a force.

The Germans had some Panthers and Sdkfz 251 halftracks with IR sights and searchlights. I believe that is what this combat command is designed to replicate. They had some operational success.

Tactics are the opinion of the senior officer present.

I managed to get through the third post before I figured out it wasn't about Me110s!

I think this is a great new CC. If you Play any late to end of war as an ally, then this some thing that you just might encounter. From all the info that I could find on German IRDs, the allies got the stuffing kicked out of them. This is one of those things that the U.S. worked with the Germans after the war (along with rockets and a few other things). And of corse you will be able to use this set in Wehrmacht 47 when it comes out.

Well, I'll be getting a set. I like playing late war campaigns, and a unit like this will give a whole different perspective to them. The Germans will be able to launch limited night attacks then run and hide during the day when the tables turn with massed artillery and CAS for the allies. Very early days of the 24 hour battlefield, when neither side actually wanted it!
I will admit they are of limited use for one off games though, unless you are looking for something different. There are some (doubable) suggestions there were some used during the beginning of the Bulge battles (mentioned in John Toland's book on the battle)
