I just got a new (new to me) Tankograd magazine about the Berlin Brigade and the cool urban camouflage pattern on the vehicles. Have any of you tried this pattern at this scale? If so do you have any pictures? The magazine has good reference plates but i would like to see if its worth trying in mircro scale.

I've done the FV432 Rarden in the experimental urban camo. Ten of these vehicles made in total, all sent to Berlin. Haven't done any Chieftains yet, but will.

Paul, I'm just about to start a new campaign with a group at the local shop using Cold War Commander as one of the UK players. I will be doing the same pattern ferret illustrates in the picture above but I will attempt to break down the pattern to the smaller rectangles used, ...which may prove to be too much in this scale but I want to try just for the hell of it. I'll post pictures when I complete a few along with pictures from the other players armies which are very well done from what I have seen so far. Will

I think the campaign begins in 1985 so I can use a few Challenger 1 MBT's along with the Chieftain MBT. I would guess the Brigades would have uparmored one at a time as the new tank came on line. As I remember the Challenger 1 began entering active service in 1983, so it will be interesting to see how the two tanks hold up under the CWC system.

I'm going to the shop this afternoon to pick up some equipment to begin the process of painting and mounting. The group is using a hex base for individual units (platoons I think). I should have some finished in the next couple of days. Will

Sounds like a cool project. Take a look at my website for a good OOB for NATO 1989 (can be fairly easily backdated to 1985). Be forewarned, though -- Challenger never went to Berlin, so no cool paint schemes for them. The UK Berlin Brigade finished the Cold War with Chieftains.

As for the size of the pattern, essentially that was the smallest I felt capable of doing well. I may take another swing a smaller version for the Chieftain I intend (eventually...) to paint up.

The group went with hex bases for units, large square bases for the overall command base, and various smaller bases for scouts, etc...



The picture above is the overall command stand for my British Berlin Infantry Brigade force we are using to play Cold War Commander. So far the game is pretty easy to understand with a simple game mechanism that plays very well.

Need to go about one-quarter of the way down, they are on parade. There are other Cold War photos on this site. Chieftians look very nice. Is the add-on armor to front of the turret the Stillbrew Armor package?
