Failed Coherency Checks

Guys

These questions are in respect of the GHQ Microarmour rules.

Coherency Checks

If a unit fail its Coherency Check to fire in the Joint Standard Fire Phase - can it attempt to fire again - possibly even making multiple attempts if it continues to fail checks - in the Joint Movement Phase (either as Opportunity Fire or Covering Fire)?

Opportunity Fire

Is there meant to be either a Coherency Mod or a modifier for the CRT to reflect firing at units on the move (Opp fFire)? I can't see one and it seems starnge that there is a +3 Coherency mod for Covering Fire but not even a +1 for Opp Fire.

Regards

Andy

Which set of rules are you referring too? The WW2 or Modern rules?
Coherency Checks

If a unit fail its Coherency Check to fire in the Joint Standard Fire Phase - can it attempt to fire again - possibly even making multiple attempts if it continues to fail checks - in the Joint Movement Phase (either as Opportunity Fire or Covering Fire)?
Its been awhile since I have played the GHQ rules, but I would have to say yes it can attempt, but only from being ordered to do so. If I remember there is a Command Efficiency chart which determines how many orders you can issue each turn, which I believe allows a unit to fire, move etc without making a cohesion check. But you can also move, fire etc a unit but have to make a cohesion check.
So in relation to your question, if a unit makes a cohesion check and is not under orders, and it fails is roll to move or shoot, then the answer is NO. It cannot move or shoot.

I see what you are saying and yes there isn't anything in either Modern or WW2 rules books. But the way I see it is the stands in Opp Fire are stationary and waiting, while AFV providing Covering Fire are firing while moving. Both sides still need to roll for Cohesion, Opp Fire no modifiers but Covering Fire does with +3.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know if there is a modifier to cohesion during opportunity fire.

Is that correct?

I can answer your question, I just need to make sure I understand it correctly.
