They were in Normandy and the eastern Front in 1943. That might make a difference. In general, a mixture of whatever sturdy trucks that were available were used. So German + a few captured Soviet trucks might be OK. Other trucks like US (lend lease), Czech, and French might be appropriate in the East.

In France, once again, German with maybe a few French trucks.

I believe you can safely use any German, French, or Italian truck, a few Russian trucks and even some early British trucks since so much of their early equipment was left at Dunkirk and would have been salvaged to make up for all the equipment being sent east after the Russian campaign began.

If you take a look at the hundreds and thousands of photos from the Western front after the Allied landings you see a wide variety of transport vehicles, ...even converted French armor, etc... including the Opel Bus and French Somua APC
