Balka's

I am thinking of making a small Russian board {2' 4'] and need some help making these Balkas,run off ditches i think. I know from photos that they were quite deep ,and could hide vehicles. Useing TM-2 ,cut like the rivers does not look deep enough, but not sure how to dipict them .
