So, anyone have a good match for this?



Yeah, most Soviet vehicles seem to have been painted a much darker green (like the color of the trailer its sitting on) and indeed most of mine are, but I like that "pea soup" green for some reason, and just wondered what everyone used to replicate it. Is the Model Master "warpac" green close?

most of my "handmedown" former warsaw pact vehicles are in this color scheme. I achieved it with a solid coat of GHQ's camouflage Green over flat black. If it appears too bright for that particular vehicle, I tend to do a drybrushing of the green instead.

Polly-S makes a color called "Soviet Green" which, to my eye, is quite close to this shade. It is rather different from the "Medium Green" or "Forrest Green" tone of the trailor in the picture. Looks to be a fair bit lighter, with more gray in it rather than yellow, to me.

Most of my Soviets are done in Model Masters Greens. A few are done in Polly-S Soviet Green. Here is a picture for comparison:


Here you see an SU-85 that has been pained in the Polly-S Soviet Green, and an SU-122 that has been painted in the Model Masters Medium Green. The SU-85 was painted about 10 years ago, an in this picture has been detailed but not washed or dry-brushed. The SU-122 was painted many years prior, with too heavy of a spray coat, and again has not been washed or dry-brushed. So please don't judge the quality of the paint jobs (both have since been refurbed), but just use the picture for an appreciation of the differences in the base tone of the greens.
