Some or possibly all of the Nafziger collection for free:

http://www.cgsc.edu/carl/nafziger/index.asp

And an index is here:

http://home.fuse.net/nafziger/OBS.HTML

This is a huge discovery in my opinion. I'm in the process of downloading all 7,985 pdf files as I type this. The site appear to be legit as it is US military. I came across a link on TMP tipping us off to this.

All i wquld say is be careful and make sure that its not a peer to peer site. Most of you I'm sure are aware of the risk with those type of sites.

If it is legit then it is the mother load.

It took about an hour and almost 600 MB of space for the lot.

The first link is to the US Army's Command and General Staff College, and links directly to the PDF files for the TO&Es. No torrents, no redirects or special downloading software or flash websites needed.

Wow, WoW, and WOW!!

This should be a special email sent to all, and everyone. Kudos to George Nafziger and all his hard work. A quote from Mr. Nafziger ...

"You may be wondering why. There are several reasons. First, technology was killing me. The collection was in WordStar, a DOS-based program, and Windows XP and Vista would not allow me to print the documents, so I found myself having to maintain a Windows 98 machine (and a spare, just in case). Sooner or later, I would no longer be able to get to the data. Technological changes would lose it to me (and you).

Second, I'm 60. Sadly, I'm not going to live forever. I imagined, not unrealistically, that since my wife and kids know nothing about the collection, could care less about it, would see a Windows 98 machine and think "junk" and place the computer, its hard drive and all the collection on the curb for the garbage collector, that my death would result in the disappearance of something that meant a lot to me as a hobby and a labor of love. Soooo, when approached by a friend two to three years ago, I realized this was the best solution. Besides, there is some sweet irony about a Navy Captain having his stuff figure so prominently on a U.S. Army website. And, in some sense, maybe I will achieve a modicum of immortality, leaving a legacy that will haunt you all long after I've shed this mortal shell.

And with that, if any of you are silly enough to want to order something on the old website (which is still functional), I will take your money, but pretty soon I'm going to take it down and leave a link to the army's website.

Enjoy, make use of it, and consider it my gift to the wargaming community."

Truly a gift to the wargaming community!

I figured something like that might happen so I made a PDF of all of the key pages. PM me with your email address and I'll send you a zip of it.

you mean http://home.fuse.net/nafziger/TOE.HTM ?

That should work pretty well as a key.

That's the WWII page all right. I have a copy of all of the pages though back through the 17th century catalog.

So far I've downloaded 1300 files, but this is just taking to much time :( At this pace downloading one file at the time will take months. Is there any way to download multiple pdf files at once?

You can download "Firefox" which is free. You don't need to make it your default browser - I didn't.

Once Firefox is open, there is "Addons", under "Tools", on the Firefox header - download and install "Downloadthemall!".

Once you have it loaded, go the host website - highlight the files you are interested in and click "downloadthemall".

It will run you through a small menu as to where you want them to go.... and then will copy them all to the destination.

I've limited my downloads to 1500 files at a time, so I don't hog the host server.
