Raiden 1/285 Aircraft

Post by av8rmongo »

For anyone interested in Vietnam, Arab Israeli or even Falklands gaming I just picked up a couple of Raiden 1/285 A-4E aircraft and I am very impressed. They come as a one piece cast, complete with refueling probe, and have crisp clear lines. Included were two drop tanks but no other ordnance or racks. I ordered mine from I-94 Enterprises (google it) while I was getting some Panzer Keepers and they have them for a very reasonable $2.75 each. Pretty sure you can get them direct from Raiden but I don't know who else might carry them. Oh, almost forgot I-94 also has decals appropriate for US and Israeli aircraft.

Pics soon.

I have been drooling over Raiden for a while. I think they can really make a splash with aircraft in this scale.

But they admit that this is a part time business for the 3 of them and that the day jobs hold priority. So releases are slow in coming. But I like what I see so far.

I highly recommend Raiden aircraft, they even do a selection suitable for WM47 era.

Even more recommended are their aircraft stands, 6 for £1.50, you get a resin hex base and a metal pole, making for a very sturdy and stable base. I've even used for 15mm metal aircraft and 1/72 aircraft kits.

As a coutesy to GHQ, why recommend a competitor. I thought critique/ evaluation was suitable to our hosts.

Competition only applies if Raiden and GHQ make the same models. As it is a lot of Raiden stuff is complimentary to GHQ, ie fills in the gaps. For example there are no WM47 aircraft in the GHQ catalogue, whereas Raiden make such things as Hs-132, Ar-555, Ta-183 and so on, in 1/285.

Knowing that other people make complimentary models that are compatible with GHQ is worth recommending, it might persuade more GHQ sales. For example, someone interested in the WM47 idea but wants to display aircraft might not bother buying GHQ WM47 range of armour, but might do knowing that he can get the aircraft elsewhere.

So in such cases I think such recommendations are good for GHQ, not a threat to their position.

That makes sense, let me ask...do we critique another manufacturer for not producing more stuff [that GHQ doesn't make either], such as irregular infantry, Leopard 2A5, or Miltilda? Or is it just providing GHQ with direct marketing research?

I don't see the problem. GHQ has asked that we not post links to competitors and rule has been followed here.

GHQ's aircraft selection is good but not extensive and if aricraft are going to be a major part of your collection then buying from the other guys is a foregone conclusion.

I'd rather have members of the forum know about Raiden than waiste thier moeny on the crap shoot that H&R/Navwar is on thier aircraft.
