Hi all! I wanted to know something about the british 8th army desert camo.

I'm starting a new project, a north african 'painting' campaign. I've already collected some Italians, today I bought the britsh that were on sale.

Over these years I've completely neglected the researches of the north african theatre of operations. I've collected enought info for the Italians, but almost nothing on the brits. For example, the trucks weared some peculiar pattern like the tanks? Were there some differences among the commonwealt units concerning the camouflage and the unit markings? How did evolved the camouflages between 1940 and 1943?

Thank You in advance! L.

A very complex and convoluted subject. Here are some of the online sources that I have found useful.

Beyond this you need lots of books/photos for specific vehicles/patterns/units, particularly for the Gazala battles where camouflage was at the discretion of unit commanders.

Cheers

Very nice resource finds. I found a couple of them but the last one is really good!
