Which Sherman (75mm) would be the main Sherman used in the Normand Campaign in 1944...the M4A1 or M4A3?

Awesome. I do have another question though. The Sherman M4 (76mm) with cast hull, would it be better to use it for the Normandy Campaign or would the M4A3 (76mm) be better?

I do not consider myself t the resident expert on Shermans - Mk1 is more knowledgeable on some of the specifics. Here is what I do know from previously checking out th

Basically what Vertgeltungswaffe said is true of the 75mm Shermans. For the 76mm Sherman at the time of the Cobra breakout, the M4A1 w. 76 would be the one. The M4A3 w. 76 showed up later in the Autumn.
I hope that with the new later model M4A1 that GHQ is doing that they will start to address the Shermans in Normandy. I would also like to see them do an M4 for this time period as well and maybe a redo of the M4A1 76mm.
